No more rumours; the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is Note 5 itself

Earlier, Xiaomi proclaimed to launch Note 5, the successor to Redmi Note 4 in January, but now it seems that the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is the note 5, according to a Super moderator on the MIUI forum. This month, the company has already launched Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones on its home soil in China.

mitch002, the moderator stated that the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is going to be the sole large-screened reasonably priced handset of the company. Nonetheless, Xiaomi has announced nothing official yet.

The moderator on the MIUI Forum has said "he wait is finally over, Xiaomi has finally decided to release the Redmi Note 5, wait!!! I heard its called the Redmi 5 Plus? No kidding?? There was a name change? Well yes folks, the 2 new Redmi Note sized phones are named Redmi 5 for the 5.7" and Redmi 5 Plus for the 5.99". What will happen to the successor of the Redmi 4X which is supposed to be a 5" Redmi 5?”

“No one knows, but as of the moment, Xiaomi has decided to drop the Note name on their 5.7" sized budget phones. It has been quite a year and 3 months in the waiting for all of us Redmi fans from all over the world, and now we are going to unbox the bigger sibling among the two, the Redmi 5 Plus, it added."

Along with 2160 x 1080-pixel resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio the phone sports a massive 5.99-inch full HD+ display. The device is backed by a 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. Similar to Redmi 5, the new Redmi 5 Plus also features a fingerprint sensor at the rear end. It has 3GB/4GB RAM with 32GB/64GB of in-built storage that can be expanded upto 128GB via micro sd card slot.

For optics, the phone sports a 5MP selfie shooter with LED flash, while the primary camera bears a 12Mp sensor coupled with dual-tone LED Flash, a 1.25μm pixel size. Powered by a large 4000 mAh battery, the product operates on Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9. The 32GB of internal storage is priced at 1299 Yuan (approximately Rs 12,675), while the 3GB with 32GB of internal storage variant carries a price tag of 999 Yuan (approximately Rs 9,745).
