Honor 9i Review: Four Lenses to Focus On!

Headquartered at Shenzen, Honor is a very well known company in the Indian market of smartphones. The company is well aware about the current demands of the smartphone market. It is featuring all the necessary required traits which need to be present in a smartphone. The price range of the company varies ranging from low priced powerful smartphones to mid-range to high priced smartphones. Previously the company have launched the series of Honor 8 which were powerful and were highly loved and demanded in the smartphone. They featured high powerful processors, cameras, battery life and various features as well. The company did not come to halt after the 8 series; it is now prepared and presenting a new masterpiece smartphone entitled with the name called Honor 9i. We will be looking into detail about all the specifications and features of the phone in our review.

The new Honor 9i has arrived with a new attracting aspect meaning it is the first device from the company to sport an 18:9 full view display and that’s not the end of its new addition to features it is also the first device from the company with dual cameras at the back as well as at the front. The device is light and easy to hold and even accessible with just one hand despite it big display and feels sturdy in the hand. When it comes about looks the phone is looking solid in its black variation of colour. Talking about the rear side the device is having 16 megapixel camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor with LED flash, there on the rear side there is fingerprint sensor which is to give you comfort while unlocking the device. At the front there are two cameras on top of screen with the LED flash. At the bottom of the device there is the Micro USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack paired alongside with the loudspeaker.

The display of the device is of 5.9 inch which is obtained by shortening of the borders which is giving the device a beautiful thin look. The resolution of the phone is also something not easily seen in most of the devices; it is having resolution of 1080x2160 pixels. The aspect ratio of the display is also updated and is of what all the devices are having nowadays which is 18:9 aspect ratio.

Talking about the camera the Honor 9i is having dual camera at rear side which lets you click images with depth of field effects. The previous launch of the company was Honor 8 Pro which was having 12 megapixel camera and in the new Honor 9i the company has advanced the rear camera and made it to 16 megapixel along with a secondary 2 megapixel sensor. There are other features paired up with the rear camera like time lapse, light painting, slow motion video capture and panorama. There is the dual camera setup at the front as well; having a 13 megapixel sensor which is paired up with a secondary 2 megapixel sensor and the company has added smart selfie toning flash to it. So if you are selfie lover then the Honor 9i will certainly excites you for sure and will drive your attention towards this new phone. You can take selfies even with the gestures. The company has focussed on the selfie-driven millennials with this new device, following the footsteps of Oppo and Vivo in this case.

Honor 9i is powered by its own Huawei’s own octa-core processor which is Kirin 659 SoC. The processor is powerful expanding the battery life as well as running the tasks smoothly. The Honor 9i has 4 GB RAM which is one of the attractive aspects of the phone. With such processor combined with RAM the device is all set to deliver a great performance in every field and to handle any process without any issue. The ROM of the device is 64 GB giving enough space for storage and further the storage can be expanded with the help of microSD card. The processor, RAM and ROM of the device is doing justice with the price tag of the device.

Honor 9i has the newer version of latest EMUI 5.1 which is newer version than the previous launch of the company which was Honor 8 Lite and Honor 8 Pro and the UI is based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Honor 9i is having the powerful non removable battery which is of 3,340mAh. The battery is made to last for long period. The battery life is enhanced with the processor and the RAM of the device. There is no rapid charging option available with this smartphone. The battery did not drain during the normal usage but it might need a power back up if you’re binging in uninterrupted games and videos. It depends on the usability, which may vary. The Honor 9i is having great sound quality as well. The Honor 9i is featuring the proprietary Huawei listen audio system from its 2012 lab, which uses six algorithms to ensure music and movies sound pristine.

The Phone also has Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi ac, and NFC. It is a dual SIM device with two Nano SIM slots and if you chose to insert microSD card then only one SIM slot is functional. There is support for 4G, VoLTE.

The Honor 9i is the first smartphone form the Huawei’s cradle to feature four lenses for the Indian market, yet it cannot really claim to be the first as InFocus has already launched Snap4 featuring four lens setup here. Apart from the cameras, the smartphone has been priced strategically at Rs 17,990, despite having a very good processor, 18:9 screenand capable battery that can last at least for a day. Surely! It cannot be overlooked at the moment.
