PS5 Pro vs Xbox Series X: Price

PS5 Pro vs Xbox Series X: Price

The Xbox Series X currently costs $499.99 (starts at approx INR 41,000).

On the other hand, the newly launched PS5 Pro with a lot of upgrades comes at $699. (starts at approx INR 59,999)

PS5 Pro has already made a place in the most expensive gaming console lists everywhere. The online gaming community was quick to troll the price tag as well.

Those planning to buy must also keep in mind that PS5 Pro is a digital-only device. Buyers will also have to buy a disc drive and vertical stand separately.

PS5 Pro vs Xbox Series X: Performance

CPY & GPUSpeaking of performance, let’s start with PS5 Pro. Packed with the same CPU as the base PS5, there is not much to expect in terms of processing or CPU power. It rather comes with a Boost Mode. This promises a slightly higher performance upgrade.

Compared to this, the Xbox Series X comes with a 3.8 GHz processor, which gives a slight edge to the CPU power but there are no special boost modes here.

The PS5 Pro scores well in the GPU department. It comes with a 45% more rendering power and 67% more computing units as compared to the base model PS5.

At the same time, we have the old RDNA 2 architecture GPU in the Xbox Series X. Though where it might perform better the PS5 Pro is running on 12.155 TFLOPS, which overpowers the base PS5 running on 10.23 TFLOPs.

RAM and Storage

RAM-wise, PS5 Pro runs 28% faster than the base model PS5. RAM number as such remains unknown for PS5 Pro, which suggests not much has changed.

In comparison, the Xbox Series X is equipped with 16 GB GDDR6 RAM.

Comparing PS5 Pro and Xbox Serie X in terms of RAM won’t give any clarity as such because we do not have clear information.

So, let’s look at the storage.

The Xbox Series X has 1 TB NVME SSD storage while the PS5 Pro comes with a huge 2TB storage.

Though looking at the number, PS5 Pro looks like a better choice, but where things change is the price point.

Interestingly, even the 2 TB Series X version of Xbox is cheaper compared to the PS5 Pro model.  Also, what needs to be noted is PS5 Pro doesn’t have a disc drive.

If we just compare both consoles in terms of the number of games in their respective game libraries, it is not hard to see who is the winner.

The PS5 Pro right now runs PS5 Pro Enhanced Games. The console currently has 13 games with the enhanced label. Moreover, Sony has already announced 30-40 titles that are under development.

Now if we compare that to Xbox Series X, the PlayStation does even stand a chance.

The Xbox Series X currently houses more than 448 games even after excluding their range of backwards-compatible games.

But this is where things get interesting.

If you compare the Xbox game numbers to the base PS5, this number is low.

Basically, what this means is – if you want exclusive games, PlayStation still provides more options and value.

Conclusion

Looking at both gaming consoles from a distance, the PlayStation 5 Pro seems to be a better choice until you look at the price tag. It would been a great buy if it had some more noticeable upgrades for the high price it carries. What we are getting is just AI Upscaling and 2 TB of storage.

In comparison, the Xbox Series X still performs well. Though you might not get as many exclusives on Xbox apart from a few other issues.

So, as of now while we wait for the PS Pro’s India launch, the Xbox Series X seems to be a better option that also saves you some bucks.
