It’s been two weeks since Google completed the testing of Android 15 with the release of Beta 4.2.

Many tech enthusiasts since then have been waiting for an official rollout of the latest Android.

But it turns out Google has different plans after all.

As per recent reports, Google might not officially roll out the Android 15 until October.

Online Tech News publication Android Authority claimed in one of their recent reports that the Android 15 update is now expected to arrive “possibly even in the middle of the month” in October.

It is important to note that Google has recently released the Pixel 9 series phone with Android 14 out-of-the-box.

And while many reviewers did point out how that is extremely disappointing, users were looking forward to getting an update within weeks to update to Android 15.

According to the publication, Google is holding back the release and delaying it for almost another couple of months to “further improve the system’s stability.”

While there has been no official word from Google yet.

But assuming this report is true and Google is planning to delay the Android 15 rollout, it only means that new Pixel 9 users will have to spend more time with Android 14.

Instead of the Android 15 update, it appears the new Pixel 9 users will get the September 2024 security patch next month.

The final Beta 4 for Android 15 was released in July.

After the successful beta testing, many experts were expecting a public release as early as August or September.

However, Google released Beta 4.2 and indicated that users should wait for the “final public stable release of Android 15 (AP3A) coming soon.”

In the meantime, Google already started testing the Android 15 QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release 1) update.

Meanwhile, Android 15 is expected to hit the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) next week.

This usually coincides with the latest Android update release for the Pixel device.

This gap appears to be quite far in advance.
