Well, we know Apple is focusing on developing a robust and innovative range of products other than iPhones. As per recent updates, we might just get an Apple TV sometime in the future.
Bloomberg’s Apple reporter Mark Gurman, in his latest Power On newsletter, revealed that Apple is reportedly considering the idea of launching an Apple-branded TV set. However, it’s not something we’ll see anytime soon.
Gurman suggests this potential Apple TV set would only come after Apple releases its upcoming smart display lineup, which is still a work in progress.
Apple’s first smart display, which is often referred to as ‘HomePad,’ is expected to debut early next year as a more affordable option. A higher-end model with a larger screen and a robotic arm is also in the pipeline.
But there’s a catch.
Gurman believes Apple’s plans could shift if the initial smart display products don’t succeed. ” It may even revisit the idea of making an Apple-branded TV set, something it’s evaluating. But if the first device fails, Apple may have to rethink its smart home ambitions once again,” he writes. This makes the rumoured Apple TV set far from a sure thing.
Among other categories, the Cupertino Giant is also investing more resources into developing, privacy-focused home cameras, speakers and mobile robots.
Some tech enthusiasts believe Apple might already have enough of a presence in the TV market with its Apple TV boxes.
Moreover, the company may prefer promoting its Apple Vision Pro as the ultimate home theatre solution, which could conflict with the idea of introducing a dedicated Apple-branded TV.
While an Apple TV set could carve out a niche in the high-end market, it seems more like a possibility than a certainty for now.
