As of now, it’s not available to users on the free plan and only Gemini Advanced (paid) users can get the update. Veo 2 is the upgraded version of Google’s earlier Veo AI, and was first introduced in December 2024. It also powers YouTube’s Dream Screen feature and is available through Vertex AI, Google’s cloud-based AI platform. With Veo 2, Gemini Advanced users can generate 8-second-long videos just by typing a prompt in natural language. The videos are created in 720p resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio, and they can be downloaded in MP4 format. You can also find Veo 2 in the model picker menu inside Gemini. Google says this feature is being rolled out globally in all languages supported by Gemini, but it might take a few weeks for everyone to get access. There’s also a monthly cap on how many videos you can generate and Google will notify you if you're getting close to that limit. Sharing is made easy too.
