Google Drive now has a native app for Arm-based Windows PCs, including those powered by last year’s Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus chips. Google announced the update in a blog post, stating that the Drive app for Windows is “generally available” for Snapdragon X chipsets.
This update comes after a beta test that started last year.
In the blog post, Google writes, “Last year, we introduced a new beta that supports running Google Drive on Arm-compatible Windows PCs, and today we’re excited to announce this is now generally available. Compiled for ARM64, this release enables users to easily sync and store files online from Windows PCs powered by Snapdragon processors.”

The new Drive app supports a range of Arm-powered PCs, including the latest Microsoft Surface laptops. It also integrates with Windows File Explorer, making it easier for users to access and manage their Drive files directly.
Requirements and Rollout Timeline
The native app is compatible only with Windows 11 and requires Microsoft WebView2. If you were part of the beta program, your app will automatically update to the full version.
Google explains, “This feature is only available on devices running Windows 11 and Microsoft WebView2, which is typically included with Windows 11. If it is missing or was previously removed, our installer will ask to install it for you (as long as you have an internet connection).”
“If you did not participate in the open beta, download and install Google Drive for desktop on an Arm-compatible Windows 11 devices,” the blog post further adds.
The rollout starts today, but it may take up to 15 days for all users to get it. The new Google Drive app is available to Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and personal Google account users.
