Google has just made a major update to its Gemini AI platform. The company is now offering its most advanced AI model Gemini 2.5 Pro for free to all users. Previously, this powerful AI was only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers who paid $19.99 per month (about 145 yuan or INR 1,710).

Now, Google is opening access to everyone, allowing more users to experience its cutting-edge capabilities.

Announced on X (formerly Twitter), Google writes, “The team is sprinting, TPUs are running hot, and we want to get our most intelligent model into more people’s hands asap. Which is why we decided to roll out Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) to all Gemini users, beginning today.”

What Is Gemini 2.5 Pro?

Gemini 2.5 Pro, released earlier this week, is being called Google’s smartest AI model yet. It brings several major upgrades, including better reasoning abilities for more accurate responses, app or browser extensions for seamless integration, file uploads for more versatile AI interactions and Google Canvas tool support for improved collaboration.

Google explain, Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental is our most advanced model for complex tasks. It tops the LMArena leaderboard — which measures human preferences — by a significant margin, indicating a highly capable model equipped with high-quality style. 2.5 Pro also shows strong reasoning and code capabilities, leading on common coding, math and science benchmarks.”

Initially, Gemini 2.5 Pro was limited to paid subscribers, but Google is now making it free to encourage more users to explore its full potential. By expanding access, the company hopes to gather user feedback and continue improving the AI.

Gemini 2.5 Pro is already available on the official Gemini website and will soon roll out on the Gemini app for Android and iOS. Google has also updated the Gemini app, making it easier for users to select and track which AI model they are using.

Despite still being in the experimental phase, Gemini 2.5 Pro is already proving to be one of the best AI models available. Here’s what makes it special:

  • 1 million-token context window – Handles large data inputs and maintains consistency in long conversations
  • Future upgrade to 2 million tokens – Improving memory and processing power
  • Strong performance in LMArena benchmarks – Competing with top AI models
  • Better coding capabilities – Making it even more useful for developers
