HMD Global has unveiled its latest Satellite Communication Gadget named OffGrid at CES 2025. This portable satellite device ensures connectivity in areas without mobile networks covering 70% of Earth’s landmass. How HMD OffGrid Works?
The HMD OffGrid uses L Band satellite radio to connect Android and iPhone users to satellites in remote locations. Weighing just 60g, it lets users send messages and share locations with up to five contacts via its app. Messages are sent from the user’s existing phone number, so recipients don’t need to install any additional apps.
Key features include:
- Real-time GPS location sharing via a dedicated button and a shareable link.
- A check-in feature for sending pre-set messages to contacts.
The device includes Overwatch x Rescue™, an emergency service from FocusPoint International offering multilingual support and access to a global search and rescue network.
