Available at Rs. 19,999 (or Rs. 17,999 with bank offers) the company offers a perfect combination of newer features and superior performance to its rivals. For a limited period, the Infinix Note 40 5G comes with a MagPad and a MagCase worth Rs. 1,999/-

A Matte Design and a Luminous Display

•India’s First 120 Hz AMOLED Display with Wireless Charging
India’s First 120 Hz AMOLED Display with Wireless Charging
  • 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display
  • 20 Hz refresh rate
  • 93.8% screen-to-body ratio
  • 1300 nits peak brightness
  • TÜV Rheinland Eye Care Certification

The design of the Infinix Note 40 5G is unique and eye-catching with a well-polished appearance.

Coming in the Titan Gold and Obsidian Black colors, the device has a minimalist design with a comfortable grip.

The 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate may be considered the most memorable, providing intense colors and seamless scrolling.

The 93.8 percent screen to body ratio can be attributed to its slim bezel and while also packing in a peak brightness of 1300 nits.

The high refresh rate and AMOLED technology gives you brilliant visuals in gaming or when watching videos, and with the TÜV Rheinland Eye Care Certification and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, it does not strain the eyes and displays true-to-life colours.

The device’s large size, however, might be challenging for one-handed use, particularly for users with smaller hands.

I also think that while the matte finish is eye-catching, it is not particularly good enough at avoiding smudges.

What about the Camera?

Infinix Note 40 5G is India’s First Smartphone with 108 MP camera
India’s First 108 MP Camera with Wireless Charging
  • 108 MP triple rear camera
  • 13 MP ultra-wide lens
  • 2 MP depth sensor
  • 32 MP front camera
  • Super Night Mode
  • Dual video mode
  • Video: 4K resolution at 30fps

In terms of the camera, the Infinix Note 40 5G has a 108MP triple rear camera and a 32 MP front camera, making it a reasonably good smartphone for mobile photography, at least in its price range.

The rear camera system has facilities such as 3x lossless zooming, super night mode, and AR shot.

It produces detailed and natural-looking photos during the day, with accurate color reproduction, and it also takes great low-light photos with minimal noise.

The front facing 32 MP camera guarantees that even selfies are taken with high clarity and good lighting.

For the video recording, it has features that allow for 4K recording, which makes the videos to be clear and with less jitters.

The dual video mode means that it can record videos from both the front and the rear cameras at the same time, which is perfect for vloggers.

While the AI processing may overdo the enhancement of images and make the photos look unnatural at times, the camera as a whole is very good and offers flexibility.

Performance and Gaming: A mid-range champ?

•India’s First 256GB Storage with Wireless Charging
India’s First 256GB Storage with Wireless Charging
  • MediaTek Dimensity 7020 5G processor
  • 8 GB RAM + 8 GB virtual RAM
  • 256 GB internal storage
  • Game mode with 120 Hz refresh rate

In terms of the performance, the Infinix Note 40 5G is driven by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7020 5G processor, supported by 8 GB of RAM and up to 8 GB of virtual RAM, so that switching between applications is a breeze.

The internal storage of 256 GB is more than enough to store applications, images and videos and much more.

As for storage, the device has an internal memory of 256 GB which is sufficient to store apps, photos, videos, and other information.

This means that there is no tedious process of offloading data frequently, thus offering users a seamless experience.

Gaming-wise, the Note 40 5G does not disappoint.

Titles likeCall of Duty: All games, including “Mobile” and “PUBG Mobile” operate normally in medium to high graphics settings with very few frame drops.

The 120 Hz refresh rate is also beneficial for gaming as it provides smooth image transition and less input delay.

However, it is not perfect as after long hours of gaming, the device may get hot, and this may not be comfortable for some people.

I was one of those people and I don’t really recommend the handset for users with extremely heavy GPU demands.

Dedicated Power Management Chip

  • Enables additional charging functions like bypass charging, wired and wireless reverse charging, and fast charging
  • Monitoring current delivery to the phone with automatic adjustments to avoid over-heating of the phone
  • Empowered with 63 charging protection schemes to keep the battery safe

The Infinix Note 40 5G is equipped with an array of features meticulously crafted to optimize the user’s interaction with the device.

A notable inclusion is the AI-driven Voice-Activated Halo Lighting, which employs nuanced color transitions to indicate various alerts, gaming statuses, and charging progress.

This feature not only embellishes the phone’s aesthetic appeal but also serves a practical purpose by providing visual cues for different scenarios.

As for the audio, the Note 40 5G boasts dual JBL-tuned speakers, which deliver a rich and enveloping sound profile.

This capability significantly enhances the user’s experience when engaged in activities such as video consumption, gaming, or music playback.

Operating on XOS 14, which is founded on the robust Android 14 framework, the smartphone presents a pristine and intuitive user interface.

Infinix is committed to delivering two substantial Android updates and three years of security patches, maintaining the device’s relevance and protection against cyber threats.

Further enhancing the device’s utility is the incorporation of an IR remote control, enabling users to manipulate a range of home appliances from the convenience of their phone.

Battery and Charging: Wireles Charging on a Budget

India’s 1st Wireless MagCharge Solution
India’s 1st Wireless MagCharge Solution
  • 5000 mAh battery
  • 33W fast charging
  • 15W wireless charging
  • Bypass charging
  • Reverse charging

The Infinix Note 40 5G comes with a non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery that will allow for hours of usage.

The power management chip and the support for 33W fast charging also indicate that you can easily top up the battery.

Besides, it has wireless charging up to 15W and reverse charging, which creates comfort and flexibility.

Not sure how many people will ever get to use this feature but at least Infinix does include its wireless charger in the package with the main smartphone. However, as mentioned this is only for a limited period.

The long battery life is beneficial for usage without plugging in very often and the options for fast and wireless charging are also helpful.

However, the wireless charging capability is capped at 15W, which is significantly lower than the wired charging rates.

MagCharge Solution: MagPad and MagCase

  • The MagPad has a light & slim design, weighing 53g and measuring 6.9mm in thickness. It is made up of zinc alloy metal.
  • A magnetic coil is placed within the MagCase to place the device in correct position on to the MagPad, without compromising on device slimness.

Directions: Attach the MagCase on the back of the phone. Then, place the MagPad on the encircled portion of the case.

Complete Battery & Charging Support!

  • 5000 mAh battery with 1600 cycles & a 33W wired fast charger
  • 3 Dynamic charging modes- Low-Temp, Smart, & Hyper Charge- choose your preferred mode from the screen when you insert the fast charger cable
  • With bypass charging, current can be passed directly to the whole machine for power supply to avoid battery heating
  • Supports wired and wireless reverse charging

Infinix Note 40 5G Review: High-End Features at a Mid-Range Price
Infinix Note 40 5G Review: High-End Features at a Mid-Range Price

The Infinix Note 40 5G impresses with its premium features at a mid-range price.

Priced at Rs. 19,999, it offers a 120 Hz AMOLED display, 108 MP camera, and robust performance with the MediaTek Dimensity 7020 processor.

The phone excels in display quality, battery life, and overall performance.

However, it has minor drawbacks like a large size for one-handed use and potential heating during extended gaming.

I think that the Infinix Note 40 5G is a strong contender for those seeking a feature-packed smartphone without breaking the bank.
