Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will likely be more expensive than the current models, according to Tim Long, an analyst at British bank Barclays. Long said this information is based on conversations with supply chain companies in Asia.
In a research note this month, obtained by MacRumors, Long said he expects the iPhone 15 Pro to cost up to $100 more than the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max to be $100 to $200 more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
He believes pricing will remain similar for the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models.
Apple is expected to launch its next iPhone series in September. The company might launch four new iPhones later this year. Apple will continue to offer two Pro iPhones and two non-Pro models, according to rumours.
There are rumours that the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will witness delays in availability. Apple has not confirmed any details at the moment. Meanwhile, the rumour mill continues to offer more details about the iPhone 15 series ahead of its launch.
The latest rumour is around the iPhone 15 price range. The latest report (via) by an analyst at Barclays reveals the starting price of all four iPhone models launching later this year. If the leaked pricing is true, the iPhone 15 Pro models will be more expensive than the outgoing models.
Based on Long’s estimates, pricing for the iPhone 15 lineup in the U.S. could be as follows:
* iPhone 15: $799 (unchanged)
* iPhone 15 Plus: $899 (unchanged)
* iPhone 15 Pro: Up to $1,099 (vs. $999 now)
* iPhone 15 Pro Max: Up to $1,299 (vs. $1,099 now)
Rumors suggest the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature an upgraded Telephoto lens with periscope technology that enables up to 5-6x zoom without blur, compared to 3x on iPhone 14 Pro models.
This feature is not expected to be available on the smaller iPhone 15 Pro this year, which could contribute to the Pro Max seeing a bigger price increase. Long believes the periscope lens will add around $50 to the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s bill of materials.
Price estimates for future iPhones should always be treated with some skepticism, as they are merely educated guesses and are not always correct. For example, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted price increases for the iPhone 14 Pro models last year, but the devices ended up having the same prices as the previous generation.
Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 lineup in September, despite reports of a temporary display-related manufacturing issue for the Pro models.
Other rumored features for the Pro models include a USB-C port, titanium frame, customizable Action button, faster A17 Bionic chip, thinner bezels around the display, Wi-Fi 6E support, increased RAM, upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, and more, so all of the new features coupled with inflationary pressures could warrant price hikes.
It would be the first price increase for the high-end iPhone models since the iPhone X and iPhone XS Max, which started at $999 and $1,099, respectively.
iPhone 15 Series: Specifications and Features (Leaked)
All four iPhone models launching later this year will reportedly feature Dynamic Island support. Apple will bid goodbye to the notch and launch the upcoming 2023 iPhone models with a hole-punch and a pill-shaped cutout.
The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro will feature 6.1-inch OLED displays, whereas the 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max will have a 6.7-inch OLED display. Only the Pro models will offer support for up to a 120Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the Pro models will feature the A17 Bionic, whereas the non-Pro models might draw power from the A16 Bionic.
Apple is also said to bump up the RAM and launch the iPhones with up to 8GB of RAM. The devices are also likely to get slightly bigger batteries than the outgoing models.
The bigger changes will be in the camera departments. All four iPhone models will likely feature a 48MP primary camera. The iPhone 15 Pro models will get a bigger sensor, whereas the non-Pro models are likely to get a 48MP sensor that will capture more light than the one found in the 14 Pro models.
There will be a 12MP ultra-wide camera as well. The 15 Pro might continue to feature a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
The 15 Pro Max, on the other hand, will feature a 12MP periscope camera with support for up to 6x optical zoom. As expected, the latest iPhones will run the latest iOS 17 update out of the box.
According to a new report by Bloomberg, Apple is allegedly planning to hike the price of its upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models in a bid to increase revenue during a projected slump in smartphone sales.
The publication claims that Apple has a target to produce around 85 million iPhone 15 units this year, which isn’t far off the 90 million iPhone 14 units the company is said to have requested from its suppliers last year.
Essentially, Apple is hoping it can produce a similar number of devices but keep its revenue high (in spite of things like ongoing inflation and lower demand for consumer tech) by increasing the price of its more expensive iPhone models, according to “people familiar with the matter.”
Apple is likely facing a battle to hit its targets. The company is reportedly experiencing production issues with the display panels for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max that could impact how many units will actually be available at launch.
Apple also allegedly cut plans to increase iPhone 14 production by an additional 6 million units last year after the usual surge in holiday season demand failed to materialize.
According to an IDC report published back in May, global smartphone shipments are expected to decline by 3.2 percent in 2023, though the market is anticipated to start recovering sometime next year.
iPhone Pro and Pro Max models have launched with a starting price of $999 and $1,099, respectively, since the introduction of the iPhone 11 Pro back in 2019.
There’s no information regarding what this price may increase to, though 9to5Mac claims that the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus pricing will remain consistent with previous generational releases ($799 and $899, respectively).
Of course, Apple still needs to sell the iPhones it’s producing to boost revenue, but the company seems confident that this won’t be an issue.
Apple CEO Tim Cook suggested during an earnings call in February that a price hike wouldn’t deter iPhone customers from purchasing the company’s flagship offerings, claiming, “I think people are willing to really stretch to get the best they can afford in that category.”

Faqs
1) What is iPhone 15 Series: Price (Leaked)?
Ans) Apple iPhone 15 series might launch later this year in September. Ahead of the launch, a new report has revealed the price of all four iPhones. According to Tim Long, a Barclays analyst, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will see a price bump of $200 over the existing 14 Pro Max. The analyst believes that Apple will launch its top-of-the-line iPhone at a starting price of $1299 (roughly Rs 1,06,500). The iPhone 14 Pro Max was launched in the US for $1099 (roughly Rs 90,100), whereas in India, it was available at launch for Rs 1,39,000.
The iPhone 15 Pro is also said to receive a price bump. According to Long, the smaller Pro model will be launched for $1099 (roughly Rs 90,100). Pricing of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will likely remain unchanged at $799 (roughly Rs 65,500) and $899 (roughly Rs 73,700), respectively.
The Pro models are likely to be far more expensive than the outgoing models, mainly due to the number of upgrades on offer. Apple is said to feature a titanium chassis in the Pro models, which will also reportedly get a new Action button with remapping features for various tasks. The 15 Pro Max is also said to feature a new periscope lens with support for up to 6x optical zoom. Therefore, it would not be a surprise if Apple increases the price of its iPhones later this year.
2) Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max may be costlier than iPhone 14 Pro Max, analyst says.Details?
Ans) Apple is said to unveil its next generation iPhone series in September this year. The iPhone 15 series is tipped to offer four phones- iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and high-end iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to Tim Long, an analyst at British bank Barclays, it is likely that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will be more expensive than the current ones. Long arrived at this conclusion after consulting with supply chain companies in Asia.
In a recent research note obtained by MacRumors, Long stated that he expects the Apple iPhone 15 Pro to be priced up to $100 higher than the iPhone 14 Pro, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max may cost $100 to $200 more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, he believes that the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will maintain similar pricing.
