Now, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has backed up the update as well. Kuo confirmed that Apple will no longer release all of its new iPhones at the same time in the fall, something it’s done consistently since the iPhone 4s in 2011. Instead, Apple will start launching its more affordable iPhones in the first half of the year, while keeping the Pro models for the usual fall window. That means, starting in 2027, you’ll see two waves of iPhone launches each year. For example, the base iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will arrive in spring 2027, while the iPhone 18 Pro and other premium models will land in fall 2026. 2025 will be the final year of the traditional fall lineup. Kuo says we can expect the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Slim (or iPhone 17 Air) to launch in the second half of 2025, likely in September. Then in 2026, Apple will shift gears. Kuo predicts the iPhone 17e will launch in early 2026, probably in March or April. This would be about a year after the iPhone 16e, which is expected to debut in February 2025. Later in 2026, Apple will roll out the high-end iPhone 18 lineup. This will include the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Slim and Apple’s first foldable iPhone. However, the regular iPhone 18 won't be part of that fall launch. Instead, Kuo says the base model iPhone 18 will launch six months later, in spring 2027, alongside the iPhone 18e. This will be the first time Apple delays the release of a base iPhone model to a different part of the year than the Pro versions. The same pattern is expected for the iPhone 19 lineup. In late 2027, Apple will launch the iPhone 19 Pro, iPhone 19 Pro Max, second-generation foldable iPhone and iPhone 19 Slim. Then in 2028, the base iPhone 19 and iPhone 19e will follow in the spring. According to The Information, this shift helps with product marketing and managing production. Apple also wants to better compete with Android brands, many of which launch flagships in the spring. Kuo agrees, adding that the main reason for the split launch schedule is “to respond to intense competition, especially in China.” By spacing out releases, Apple can better compete with rival phones released in the first half of the year and give each iPhone model more time to stand out. With Apple now making more iPhone models than ever including new lines like the iPhone 16e and upcoming foldables launching them all at once risks “diluting marketing efforts.” A staggered release helps each phone get more attention, especially the base models that often get overshadowed by the Pro versions.
