iQOO Neo 8 series is set to launch in China on May 23rd. Speculations are rife that there could be two models in the series, the iQOO Neo 8 and iQOO Neo 8 Pro. The company already confirmed the latter would arrive with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+.
Now, ahead of the launch, the vanilla iQOO Neo 8 has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. This spills some beans on the specifications and the model number V2301A. The iQOO Neo 8 series will succeed the iQOO Neo 7.
Separately, in new teaser images, iQOO has confirmed the Neo 8 series will come with a dedicated V1+ chip that will aid with AI tasks and better photography as well. This is the first time that iQOO’s custom ship is making its way to the Neo series. Additionally, the phone will have 144Hz refresh rate support as well.
iQOO is gearing up for the launch of the Neo 8 series. The company has confirmed that it will launch the Neo 8 series in China on May 23. iQOO will launch two smartphones in the lineup. These will be called the Neo 8 and Neo 8 Pro.
The company has revealed some key details about the Neo 8 series ahead of the launch. The Neo 8 Pro is confirmed to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC. The SoC details of the Neo 8 5G, on the other hand, have been officially kept under wraps.
However, thanks to a Geekbench listing, we now know which SoC would power the Neo 8 5G.

iQOO Neo 8 Performance Unit Details Revealed Via Geekbench
The iQOO Neo 8 will be one of the two premium smartphones launching on May 23 in China. It has been spotted on Geekbench ahead of launch. The listing on Geekbench reveals that the Neo 8 5G, which has the model number, V2301A, will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC codenamed taro.
This means that the device will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The listing reveals that the SoC has a peak clock speed of 3.0GHz for the prime core, followed by three performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
The variant of the Neo 8 5G listed on Geekbench has 16GB of RAM. We can expect iQOO to launch the device with 8GB or 12GB of RAM as well. In addition to this, the phone might arrive with 256GB/ 512GB of storage.
In addition to the above details, the listing also confirms that the Neo 8 5G will boot Android 13 out of the box. It will have a layer of Origin OS 3 in China on top of Android.
The device scored 1678 and 4345 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests.
Other details about the Neo 8 5G have been teased as well. The company will launch with a curved rear panel. It will have a vegan leather rear panel option, which will have a red colour to it.
There will also be a rectangular-shaped camera module on the back for the triple-camera setup and an LED flash. The text on the camera module confirms that the Neo 8 will have support for optical image stabilisation (OIS) for the main camera.
iQOO is expected to launch the phone with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display. The screen will have a 1.5K resolution and support for at least 120Hz refresh rate. iQOO has teased that the Neo 8 Pro will feature a 144Hz refresh rate display and a V1+ chip.
At the time of writing this, it is unknown if the vanilla Neo 8 will feature the same refresh rate support. For selfies, both phones are likely to feature a 16MP front camera. The Neo 8 5G is expected to pack a 5000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support as well.
