Apple just launched the iPhone 16e and four more iPhone models including the much anticipated ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air are set to arrive later this year. But if Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is to believe, 2026 could be even bigger for Apple with two brand-new iPhone designs in the works. It seems we will finally get to see the foldable iPhone and another mysterious model next year.

Two New iPhone Designs Expected in 2026

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman shared Apple’s iPhone roadmap for this year and next. While 2025 is bringing the iPhone 17 Air and design changes to the iPhone 17 Pro models, it’s what’s planned for 2026 that stands out.

Gurman reports via Bloomberg, “[Apple is] readying a skinnier iPhone for later this year and focused on finishing up development of its first foldable device for 2026. There’s also another new iPhone design in the works for that year, I’m told.”

There are two key takeaways from this. One, Apple’s foldable iPhone is still on track for a 2026 release and is nearing the end of development and two, a second iPhone next year will introduce a fresh design.

Interestingly, this is the first time we’ve heard about two new iPhone designs coming in the same year.

Gurman hasn’t shared details about this second new iPhone design, but it’s an interesting development especially since Apple is already introducing a redesigned 17 Air this year.

One possibility is that the base model iPhone 18 could see a major design update since it’s the only iPhone 17 model not expected to change much. However, Gurman’s wording suggests something more significant than just a base model refresh.

Apple’s 2026 iPhone plans are still a while away but these reports align with recent comments from CEO Tim Cook and hardware chief John Ternus about Apple’s increasingly ambitious iPhone roadmap.

In any case, we can expect more details to emerge as we get closer to 2026.

The Google Pixel 9a leaks and rumours have been all over the internet in the past few months, revealing key details about the phone. A new hands-on video has given us a closer look at the device, but not without raising some questions. Unfortunately, some online reports expressed concerns that the device in the leaked video looks cheaper than previous A-series models. Here’s all we know.

Hands-On Leak Shows a Cheaper Look

A new leaked video gives us a first look at the Pixel 9a’s Obsidian colour model. The biggest takeaway is it looks noticeably cheaper than the Pixel 7a and 8a.

While the hands-on video has been removed by the original poster, it is still visible in a Threads post by Shane Craig.

While previous A-series Pixels also used different materials than their flagship counterparts, they didn’t look as budget-friendly as this one. The camera bar and plastic rings in particular give it a cheaper aesthetic compared to past models.

That said, Craig later clarified that while the Pixel 9a may look cheap, it actually feels good in the hand, describing it as having a “Nokia Lumia” plastic aesthetic. The matte finish seems to align with the current-gen Pixel design, even if the camera bar change makes it stand out.

Google Pixel 9a – Is It A Budget-Friendly Flagship?

Google hasn’t officially announced the Pixel 9a yet, but recent leaks suggest that it could follow a familiar formula, which involves offering flagship-level features at a lower price. That means we’ll likely get the following features –

  • Tensor G4 processor
  • Up to 8GB of RAM
  • 120Hz OLED display
  • All the key Pixel software features

However, to keep costs down, Google typically makes hardware compromises with the build materials. Now, the leaked video made many tech enthusiasts believe that cheaper build materials could be Google’s choice again this year.

With all the leaks piling up, we can assume that Google might make things official soon. The real question is whether the Pixel 9a will feel premium enough to justify its price, or if the cheaper design will turn buyers away.

FAQs

Q1. How does the Pixel 9a look in the leaked video?

Answer. The leaked video shows that the Pixel 9a looks noticeably cheaper compared to previous A-series models with a camera bar and plastic rings contributing to its budget-friendly appearance.

Q2. How does the Pixel 9a feel in the hand according to Tech influencer Shane Craig?

Answer. Shane Craig noted that the Pixel 9a feels good in the hand, describing its plastic aesthetic as similar to the “Nokia Lumia.”

Apple is getting ready to launch new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models powered by the M4 chip soon. According to Mark Gurman’s latest report, the company is reportedly preparing for a March debut.

Rumours about the M4 MacBook Air have been circulating for months. Back in December, references to the new model even appeared in the macOS 15.2 beta hinting that a launch was imminent. The leaked software references the ‌MacBook Air‌ 13-inch M4 2025 and the ‌MacBook Air‌ 15-inch M4 2025″ which confirms that upcoming M4 ‌MacBook Air‌ models are in development and are most likely close to launching.

However, the MacBook Air is still missing when the iPhone 16e has already arrived.

Now latest reports suggest that it is expected to change soon. Gurman reports that Apple is now preparing its marketing, sales and retail teams for the M4 MacBook Air launch. Moreover, the current M2 and M3 MacBook Air models are seeing low stock in stores, which further hints at an upcoming refresh.

Aside from the M4 chip, there aren’t many confirmed upgrades for the new MacBook Air. However, some possible improvements include the following –

  • Thunderbolt 4 support (instead of USB 4/Thunderbolt 3)
  • A centre-stage camera for better video calls
  • A nano-texture display option for reduced glare

These features have already appeared in other M4-powered Macs, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them on the new Air as well.

With Apple gearing up for launch, we should get official details very soon.

Apple is shifting its focus to iPhone video recording features with the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models. According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, Apple is now pushing harder than ever to make the iPhone the ultimate tool for content creators. Here’s what we know.

iPhone 17 Pro – Video Recording

Apple has spent years developing one of the best mobile camera systems, mainly focusing on photography. Now, the company wants to take video to the next level.

Gurman reports that one of Apple’s big goals for the 2025 iPhone lineup including the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max is to convince vloggers and content creators to ditch standalone cameras in favour of the iPhone.

Gurman writes, “One of the goals for 2025’s iPhone line is to get the vlogging community and other video creators to move away from standalone cameras and use the iPhone for even more of their work. Look for Apple to more heavily than ever tout these video recording capabilities when the new iPhones debut in September.”

While specific video upgrades aren’t detailed in the report, it’s clear Apple is gearing up to make a big leap in mobile video recording.

A new leak from Apple insider Sonny Dickson on X (formerly Twitter) gives us a possible first look at the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s design. He shared an image of a rendered model and a MagSafe case revealing what could be a major camera redesign.

The images reveal that instead of a clustered camera module in the upper left corner, the flash, microphone and LiDAR sensor are now separated from the triple-lens setup, creating a more spread-out camera layout.

Apple Plans to Integrate Modems Into Main Chipset, But It’ll Take Years

0

Highlight

  • Apple plans to integrate future modems directly into the main chipset of its devices.
  • The iPhone 16e introduced the first-ever in-house 5G C1 modem.
  • Apple will introduce the C2 modem next year for higher-end iPhones and the C3 modem later.
  • The goal is to integrate the modem directly into the main chipset by 2028.

Apple is planning to take in-house modem technology to the next level. According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, the company is working on integrating its future modems directly into the main chipset of its devices. This means that instead of having an A18 chip and a separate C1 modem, everything will be combined into one. However, this shift will take a few years to happen.

With the iPhone 16e, Apple quietly introduced its first-ever in-house 5G modem, the C1 modem. This was a key step in Apple’s long-term plan to replace Qualcomm modems in iPhones. However, for now, the C1 modem is exclusive to the iPhone 16e and isn’t available across the entire lineup.

According to Gurman, Apple will introduce the C2 modem next year but only in higher-end iPhones. Then, the C3 modem is expected later and will ideally outperform Qualcomm’s offerings altogether. The C1 modem for now isn’t perfect with some trade-offs in performance. However, its power efficiency has given the iPhone 16e the best battery life ever in a 6.1-inch iPhone.

Once Apple surpasses Qualcomm in performance, the company’s next goal is to integrate the modem directly into the main chipset. Gurman says this move will improve cost and efficiency, but it won’t happen until at least 2028.

Meanwhile, many tech enthusiasts online posed an interesting question. Will Apple still offer separate cellular and Wi-Fi-only versions of its devices? Right now, iPads and Apple Watches require a $50-$150 upgrade for cellular support. If Apple’s in-house modems become the default, could all devices have built-in cellular by default?

While answers to these questions are something only time will tell, Apple’s modem strategy is clearly evolving and we can expect big changes in the next few years.

FAQs

Q1. What is Apple’s plan for modem technology in its future devices?

Answer. Apple plans to integrate its future modems directly into the main chipset of its devices, combining the A18 chip and the modem into one, but this shift will take several years to happen.

Q2. What is the current status of Apple’s in-house modems?

Answer. The iPhone 16e introduced Apple’s first-ever in-house 5G modem, the C1 modem. Apple will introduce the C2 modem next year for higher-end iPhones and the C3 modem later, aiming to outperform Qualcomm’s offerings.

Q3. When does Apple aim to integrate the modem into the main chipset?

Answer. Apple aims to integrate the modem directly into the main chipset by 2028 improving cost and efficiency.

Xiaomi’s laptop lineup has been somewhat unpredictable, especially compared to bigger players in the space. However, Ma Zhiyu clarified that Xiaomi-branded laptops will continue to receive updates, just not in the immediate future. For now, it seems Xiaomi is focusing on the Redmi lineup.

Last month, the company launched the Redmi Book 14 and 16 2025 laptops, powered by Intel Core 5-220H processors, up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. The 14-inch model features a 2.8K 120Hz display, while the 16-inch variant has a 2.5K 120Hz screen, both certified by TÜV Rheinland.

Samsung officially teased the ultra-slim Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge last month at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event. Since then not much has been revealed about the upcoming slim smartphone. But this is changing as we approach the official launch, more details are emerging.

A leaked hands-on video has given us the first real look at Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge. The footage originally shared by YouTuber Alexis Garza showcased the phone’s ultra-thin design and compared it to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Although the video has since been taken down, it revealed key details about the device’s hardware and build.

Here’s everything we know about the phone.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge – What To Expect?

The Galaxy S25 Edge is shaping up to be one of Samsung’s slimmest smartphones with reports suggesting it measures just 5.48mm thick. In the leaked video, the phone was placed next to the unfolded Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is 5.6mm thick in its unfolded state.

The S25 Edge is also rumoured to feature a ceramic back giving it a premium feel.

The camera module on the S25 Edge looks like a smaller version of the one found on the Z Fold 6. However, its slim form factor comes with a trade-off as it packs a 4,000mAh battery, which is relatively small for a flagship device. The phone is expected to sport a 6.7-inch display, whereas the standard Galaxy S25 has a smaller 6.2-inch screen but features the same battery capacity.

Despite its ultra-thin design, the S25 Edge doesn’t compromise on performance. The AIDA64 app shown in the leaked video confirms that the phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite (for Galaxy) chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

As for the cameras, there’s still some uncertainty. The AIDA64 app displayed three 12-megapixel sensors, but leaks suggest the phone might actually feature a 200-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual-camera setup. The video also confirms support for Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge – Launch Timeline

Samsung hasn’t officially announced a launch date for the Galaxy S25 Edge but rumours point to an early March debut at MWC 2025. With its ultra-slim design and powerful specs, it will be interesting to see how this device fits into Samsung’s flagship lineup.

If you rely on WhatsApp for messaging, you’ve probably noticed how the home screen badge notification works. It shows a red counter indicating the number of pending notifications. However, the counter disappears as soon as you open the app, even if you haven’t checked any of your unread messages.

This can be frustrating for users who want to keep track of conversations and it increases the risk of missing messages if the app is opened accidentally.

Now, WhatsApp seems to be working on a fix.

New WhatsApp Notification Toggle Spotted in Beta

According to WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta (version 2.25.4.20) introduces a new notification setting under ‘Home screen notifications’ in the app’s settings.

A new toggle called ‘Show count until viewed’ is being tested and its description states, “Show total unseen messages and calls on the WhatsApp icon until you view them.”

WABetaInfo explains, “In the screenshot on the left, you can see the current feature that lets users clear the app icon’s notification count completely when they open the app. On the right, you can see that WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a feature that will allow home screen chat notifications to remain visible until they are manually viewed, scheduled for release in a future update.”

If enabled, the home screen badge will remain visible until you manually view unread messages and calls. If disabled, WhatsApp will continue with its current behaviour, where the badge disappears as soon as you open the app. The current way is helpful if you want to keep messages unread without constant alerts.

As of now, there’s no confirmed timeline for when this feature will roll out to all users. However, since it’s already appearing in beta, it could arrive in a future update soon.
