New ThinkPads – More Power, More Flexibility
Lenovo is giving ThinkPad fans plenty to look forward to, with updated internals across its business laptop lineup and a brand-new 2-in-1 ThinkPad T-series.
The ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 is the standout featuring a convertible design similar to Lenovo’s Yoga laptops. It supports the magnetic Yoga Pen stylus and comes with:

Lenovo calls the ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 “one of the lightest ThinkPad designs ever,” weighing just 2.05 lbs. Despite its ultra-light build, it packs a punch with:
-
- Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen AI Pro chips
- Up to 64GB LPDDR5x RAM
- Wi-Fi 7 and optional 5G support
- Choice of 41Wh or 54.7Wh battery
Other ThinkPads getting an upgrade include
- ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 and E16 Gen 3: Now support Intel Core Ultra 7 U or H 200 series chips and up to 64GB DDR5 RAM.
- ThinkPad T16 Gen 4: Maxes out at 32GB RAM.

Lenovo’s Codename Flip Laptop – A Wild Take on a Flexible-Screen Laptop
Lenovo’s Codename Flip Laptop. (Image credit – Sam Rutherford for Engadget)Lenovo isn’t done experimenting with futuristic laptops. Following its rollable-screen laptop, the company is showing off a new proof-of-concept device at MWC 2025: the ThinkBook codename Flip AI PC.
Unlike the ThinkBook Rollable, which extends vertically, the Flip’s OLED display folds outward, transforming a 13-inch screen into an 18.1-inch panel in seconds.
The versatile design lets you –
- Use it vertically for more screen space
- Flip it into tablet mode
- Set it up in tent mode for presentations
But it’s not just about the display, Lenovo has also introduced the Smart ForcePad, a touchpad with a three-layer illuminated dashboard that adds customizable controls and icons.
Under the hood, the Flip packs:
- Intel Core Ultra 7 processor
- 32GB RAM
- PCIe SSD storage
While this concept is exciting, there are some design challenges, like hinge stability and screen protection when folded down. For now, Lenovo has no plans to bring the Flip to production, but it’s an intriguing glimpse into the future.
AI-Powered Laptops – Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition & IdeaPad Slim 3x
Lenovo is also embracing generative AI with two new laptops. Here’s all about both models.
Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition
This AI-powered creator laptop is the result of a partnership with Intel, featuring personalised computing experiences with both software and hardware optimisations.
Key features –
- Intel Core Ultra processor
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU
- 16-inch 3.2K PureSight Pro display (1600-nit peak brightness)
- 100% sRGB, P3, and Adobe RGB color support
- Lenovo Creator Zone for AI-powered creative apps
The Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition launches in Q2 2025 starting at $1,799.
IdeaPad Slim 3x
A Copilot+ PC, the IdeaPad Slim 3x runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X chip and features on-device AI processing.
Other highlights:
- Dedicated Copilot key for Microsoft’s AI assistant
- Expandable SSD slot for extra storage
The IdeaPad Slim 3x is available this month, starting at $649.
Lenovo’s Solar-Powered Laptop Concept
Lenovo is also experimenting with solar power at MWC 2025. The Yoga Solar PC Concept aims to make laptops more energy-efficient by integrating solar cells into the lid.
Weighing just 2.6 lbs and less than 0.6 inches thick, this laptop isn’t just about sustainability, it also packs solid specs:
- 14-inch OLED display
- Up to 32GB RAM
- 2Wh battery
- 2MP IR webcam for Windows Hello
The solar cells use Back Contact Cell technology, achieving 24% energy conversion efficiency, comparable to high-end home solar systems. It can generate enough power to:
- Play an hour of video after 20 minutes in the sun
- Harvest indoor light (as little as 0.3 watts) to extend battery life
Lenovo has also developed a solar tracking app to monitor energy absorption. However, there’s a catch as a built-in solar panel might not be as practical as an external solar charger. For now, this is just a concept device but it’s a fascinating look at what could be possible in the future.
