However, no official confirmation has been received yet. While we wait for that, here’s everything we already know about the upgraded chipset.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Key Specs (All Rumoured)

That MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400 chip is going to be a big upgrade in terms of both performance and efficiency is something everyone already knows.

The chip will reportedly be built using TSMC’s advanced 3nm N3E technology. It was previously speculated that it will promise up to 30% better energy efficiency as compared to the previous generation.

If true, this indicates that all devices that will be using this chip in future could see noticeable improvements in their respective battery life.

As for the performance, the Dimensity 9400 will feature an octa-core CPU.

According to a Geekbench AI benchmark listing, it will have one powerful Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.63 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.80 GHz for additional power, and four Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.10 GHz for handling everyday tasks.

Compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9300, this upcoming chipset will see a significant boost in clock speed.

The prime core especially impresses with a jump from 3.25 GHz to 3.63 GHz.

As for the graphics performance, the Dimensity 9400 is expected to feature a GPU from the Immortalis G9xx series.

Early tests suggest it will deliver 110fps in the GFXBench Aztec Ruins test at 1440p resolution, which is an 11.1% improvement over the previous generation’s 99fps.

Dimensity 9400 Benchmark Score Leak

Earlier this week, the AI benchmarks for the Dimensity 9400 also surfaced on Geekbench.

It revealed a score of 1,501 points in Single Precision, 1,906 points in Half Precision, and 1,793 points in Quantized tasks.

These scores confirm the octa-core CPU configuration.

However, it will be difficult to compare the leaked score with other competitive processors benchmarking performance since Geekbench’s AI benchmark is still new.

At a glance, Dimensity 9400’s peak clock speed may seem lower than its rivals. However, previous leaks claim the chip offers a 30% boost in performance, 35% better energy efficiency, and a 40% improvement in AI tasks.

How this fares in terms of performance when put side by side with Qualcomm and Apple processors is something that only time will tell.

The wait for real performance evaluation is not much since the first phone with this chip is expected to launch in early October. Some reports hint at an October 14 launch,

In any case, the Dimensity 9400 will face major competition.

Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is rumoured to reach a peak clock speed of 4.32 GHz. And we also have Apple’s A18 series, which is expected to hit 4.04 GHz. Looking at these numbers, both seem to be higher than MediaTek Dimensity 9400.

Is Mediatek Dimensity 9400 a game changer ?
Last year, MediaTek released the Dimensity 9300 chip, which was rather amazing.

Still, rumors are rife that its successor, Dimensity 9400, would be superior in performance and battery economy to the previous one.

How is that possible, you ask?

Well, here’s the deal—all is about advanced technology.

First of all, the Dimensity 9400 is going to use the ARMv9 instruction set and a completely new “Blackhawk” architecture developed with the help of ARM itself.
In simple terms, the chip will be able to do difficult jobs a lot better than before.
MediaTek is also leveraging TSMC’s most advanced 3nm process technology.

Without getting too technical, the smaller 3nm scale enables amazing transistor density.

Hello, increased performance and much-improved battery life!

By combining the most advanced chip design of ARM with the extremely small 3nm technology of TSMC, the Dimensity 9400 is all set to bring power and efficiency probably better than current mobile processors that are leading the flagships.
It’s building up to be a legitimate heavyweight contender.

How tough is it for Mediatek to dethrone Qualcomm ?

Qualcomm has been the long and proud king of the premium mobile processor market.

Nonetheless, the Dimensity range is constantly improving, leaving users with a very good alternative.

If the expectations are true, the 9400 is just going to cause huge ripples in the mobile processor market.

To frequent users of smartphones (basically everyone), a powerful chip like the Dimensity 9400 translates to smooth performance, longer battery life, and an overall better mobile experience.
In addition, increased competition tends to spur innovation and lower costs.
IT companies will need to step up their game.

It’s still early, but all signs point to MediaTek delivering something special with its next flagship mobile processor.

The Dimensity 9400 could be a total knockout that makes our current phones look like chumps in comparison.
