Apple has rolled out a new Shazam update (version 18.9), making it easier to sync tagged songs with Spotify and Apple Music. Now, songs recognised outside the Shazam app such as through Control Center, Siri, or Shortcuts will also be added to your “My Shazam Tracks” playlist. Here’s what we know so far.

What’s New in Apple Shazam 18.9 Update?

Previously, only songs manually identified within the Shazam app were added to the playlist. Songs recognised using the built-in Music Recognition feature in iPhone and iPad’s Control Center weren’t included. The new update fixes that.

Explaining the new 18.9 update, Apple writes, “We’ve made syncing songs to Apple Music and Spotify better than ever! Shazam will now include songs found via Music Recognition in Control Centre, Siri, and Shortcuts to your “My Shazam Tracks” playlist in Apple Music or Spotify.”

“Simply toggle “Sync your songs” off and on in Shazam settings to re-sync all your previously discovered songs from the Shazam app. You may need to reopen Spotify to see the playlist refreshed. […] Don’t forget to keep your Shazam History safe and in sync between your devices. To do this, turn on iCloud sync in Shazam Settings,” Apple adds.

To update your synced songs, simply toggle “Sync your songs” off and on in Shazam settings. If you’re using Spotify, you may need to reopen the app for the playlist to refresh.

For seamless syncing across devices, Apple also recommends enabling iCloud sync in Shazam settings.

This update makes music discovery and playlist management smoother, ensuring every song you tag, no matter how you found it, gets saved to your streaming library.
