Nothing Phone (2) is set to launch later this year. The company has confirmed that the Phone (2) launch event will be held in the summer of 2023. Ahead of the official launch, the company has started building hype around the product.

Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (2) will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

The Phone (2)’s choice of SoC will bring significant improvements across the board including battery life, network connectivity, and camera capabilities, among others, according to the company.

Now, CEO Carl Pei has revealed some more details about the upcoming Nothing flagship smartphone.

During his interaction with Forbes, Pei revealed the battery specifications of the Phone (2).
The new details confirm that the Phone (2) will pack a bigger battery than its predecessor.
Pei also revealed the launch timeline of the Phone (2).

Let’s take a look at the Nothing Phone (2) specifications, features and other details known so far.

Nothing Phone (2) Battery Details

Pei in an interview with Forbes revealed that the Nothing Phone (2) will pack a 4,700mAh battery. The charging details haven’t been revealed yet.

In comparison to the Nothing Phone (1)’s 4,500mAh battery, this is a slight increase but with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, it would be an 80% increase in overall performance improvement over the last gen.

On choosing the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip instead of the Gen 2, Pei gave the reason that this would make the Nothing Phone (2) remain accessible which is probably hinting at the price range for the smartphone.

The Nothing Phone (1) sits at a comfortable spot in terms of pricing where it isn’t as expensive as the premium affordable smartphones but not too cheap either.

Going with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip would make the Nothing Phone (2) remain accessible.

Nothing Phone (2): Launch Details

The Nothing Phone (2) is officially confirmed to launch worldwide in July. The exact launch date of the device has not been revealed yet. Ahead of the launch, Nothing’s CEO has revealed some new details.

Pei has confirmed that the upcoming Nothing flagship smartphone will pack a slightly bigger battery than the outgoing model. He revealed that the Phone (1) successor will launch with a 4700mAh battery. The first Nothing smartphone, in comparison, came with a 4500mAh battery.

The charging details of the device have been kept under wraps. It would not be surprising if Nothing launches the device with the same 33W fast charging support that its predecessor came with.

Pei had previously revealed that the Phone (2) will launch with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. When asked about why not going ahead with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Pei said, “Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a proven processor. It has been thoroughly tested and continuously optimised through numerous updates since its introduction a year ago. We prioritise user experience over being first in the specs race. Also, the latest technology comes at a cost which isn’t always justified from a user benefit standpoint. Choosing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures that Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1).”

Nothing Phone (2): Specifications Tipped

While Pei has revealed some of the specifications of the upcoming Nothing smartphone, some key details about the camera, display and charging have been kept a secret.

There have been reports about the Phone (2) packing up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Considering the company launched the original Nothing Phone (1) with 8GB and 12GB of RAM, it would not be a surprise if the Phone (2) offers the same RAM and storage configuration.

The device is also tipped to sport a 120Hz AMOLED display. The screen size remains unknown but some rumours on the web have claimed that it will feature a 6.55-inch AMOLED panel, which is the same as its predecessor.

The rumour mill has not managed to leak the Nothing Phone (2) camera specifications at the time of writing this. If there is any improvement, it should be over the 50MP main camera and the 50MP ultra-wide camera of the Phone (1).

Nothing has, by the way, confirmed that the device will feature support for video recording up to 4K 60fps.

Faqs on Nothing Phone (2)

1) What are Nothing Phone (2) expected specifications?

Ans) There’s still a lot that hasn’t leaked about the Nothing Phone (2) but based on what we’ve seen and confirmed so far, here’s all we know:

* The Nothing Phone (2) is expected to feature a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also said to house an in-display fingerprint sensor.
* The smartphone is rumoured to house a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary camera with OIS.
* When launched, the Nothing Phone (2) will most likely come in three variants of 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB.
* As for the confirmed specs, we know the Nothing Phone (2) will come with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and a 4,700mAh battery.

2) Nothing Phone (2) launch timeline details?

Ans) Just earlier this month, it was announced that the Nothing Phone (2) will launch this summer. Pei has now revealed that the launch will take place in July and it’s going to be a global release. This means that the Nothing Phone (2) will launch in several countries at the same time so it should come to India soon.

In the interview, Pei also shared how the Nothing Phone (1) was a risky but successful launch as it confirmed that people are excited about something new in the Android smartphone market. He also pointed out how Apple doesn’t have a “really exciting alternative out there right now, especially for the younger generation.”
With the Nothing Phone (2), the company is most likely going ahead with the transparent design which was a big hit with the Nothing Phone (1). A very tiny teaser image of the phone also hints at this possibility.

3) Nothing Phone (2) is officially coming in July with a 4,700 mAh battery.Details?

Ans) Nothing’s second smartphone, the aptly named Phone (2), will arrive in July, according to CEO Carl Pei. He outed the information in an interview with Forbes today. Previously, Pei also revealed that the handset will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, making it a definite step above the mid-range Nothing Phone (1), while not quite being on par with 2023’s flagships that use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

That decision was related to the comparative costs of the two SoCs, and the company judged the latest chip not worthy of the premium. We’ll see how that pans out – we’d wager that a lot of people would be willing to swallow this if the price “is right”. If the price delta is too small compared to other flagships, then it will be a different situation.

The teaser image you can see above was shared by Nothing itself at the beginning of the month, and it now seems like the launch campaign is in full session, with the traditional OnePlus/Nothing style of drip-feeding us spec information every other week or so.
Speaking of which, today we got the battery size too: it’s going to be a 4,700 mAh cell. That’s 200 mAh more than the one in the Nothing Phone (1), but not quite up there with the standard nowadays, which is 5,000 mAh. How that will impact endurance remains to be seen of course.

4) Nothing Phone (2): 4700mAh battery, July launch confirmed.Details?

Ans) After confirming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC for the Nothing Phone (2), the company’s founder Carl Pei in an interview with the Forbes has confirmed that the phone will pack a 4700mAh battery, slightly bigger than the 4500mAh battery in the Phone (1).

We can expect it to come with wireless charging support that was introduced with the Phone (1). He said that the company sold close to 750,000 units of Phone (1). The company is still selling the phone Phone (1).

When asked about choosing the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 over the new 8 Gen 2 for the Phone (2), he said that it is a much more optimized chip with several updates, and the company prioritizes user experience over being first in the specs race. Another reason is also keeping the cost in check.

We still don’t have the camera specifications of the phone. Benchmark listings revealed 12GB of RAM and Android 13 for the phone. Based on earlier rumours, the phone will get a FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display and up to 256GB of storage, but the phone is also expected to come in 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB models as well, similar to the Phone (1).
The Nothing Phone (2) will launch in July 2023, the same time the Nothing Phone (1) was launched last year. This time, the company will also launch the phone in the U.S. along with other countries. It will be sold on Flipkart in India, similar to the Phone (1) and earbuds.
