After you have the option of adding 512 members to a WhatsApp group, the instant messaging app is coming with a new feature update. WhatsApp has announced some major improvements to its group video calling feature. Just like the recent functionality, where you can add more members to any group, now you would be able to mute a specific person during video calls.
One of the highlights of this upcoming functionality is that you would be able to mute any person, including the host. The upcoming was also pointed out previously as the video calling feature lacked a few functionalities.
WhatsApp new feature update: Mute a specific person during a WhatsApp group video call
As tweeted by the CEO of the instant messaging app, Will Cathcart, “Some new features for group calls on @WhatsApp You can now mute or message specific people on a call (great if someone forgets to mute themselves!), and we’ve added a helpful indicator, so you can more easily see when more people join large calls”.

Earlier, users didn’t have the option to mute a specific person, the host could only mute all the participants altogether and unmute the ones speaking. Now, the platform will allow the users to mute noisy people on an ongoing video call and send private messages to specific participants directly from the call. Additionally, whenever a new person joins the video call, all the existing members would be able to see it.
WhatsApp announced both the features on Twitter. Reportedly, WABetaInfo has reported that all the new features will be rolled out for both Android and iOS users in the coming days.
For the unversed, WhatsApp now also allows users to add up to 32 people on a voice call on the app. If you don’t see these features now, you will get them eventually as it is being released in a phased manner globally.

Another great functionality that the app is currently offering is the option for iPhone users to migrate all their data to Android phones and vice versa. The transfer is totally secure and end-to-end encrypted says the platform. Earlier, it was a painful task to transfer WhatsApp data between Android and iOS devices. In fact, it was not possible to transfer a chat backup from an Android to an iOS device. Currently, the update is available for beta users. The new feature will soon be made available for stable users as well. Also Read: How to migrate WhatsApp data from Android to iPhone and vice versa
