OnePlus has officially announced the two new additions to its Ace series – the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro – are set to launch in China this December.
The teaser shared by OnePlus China Head Louis Lee confirms that the Pro model will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, while the standard Ace 5 will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
Louis Lee shared his excitement for the new series in a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
He wrote – “In the past, we used the standard version to ‘fight two with one,’ and we were still able to do it with ease; now, we have officially upgraded the Pro version, with the strongest attitude, and it will only be more powerful. Since we have come to this battlefield, we also have to say something fierce: I come, I see, I conquer.”

Lee also shared gaming performance data comparing the Ace 5 to competing devices running the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip under identical testing conditions (120 frames, extreme image quality, one hour).
The competitor’s 8 Elite model achieved an average frame rate of 120.2, with power consumption at 3.27W and a maximum temperature of 40°C.

In comparison, the OnePlus Ace 5 recorded an average frame rate of 120.4 with a power consumption of 3.57W and a maximum temperature of 40.3°C. Meanwhile, the competing 8 Gen 3 model had an average frame rate of 119.8, power consumption of 4.56W, and a maximum temperature of 42.1°C.
In the meantime, the Ace 5’s retail box with the classic OnePlus red design with bold black “Ace” text on top surfaced on Weibo.

Ace 5 Series – Name Confirmed
In a separate post, OnePlus China Head Louis Lee also put an end to all the speculations regarding the name of the upcoming smartphone series. Lee confirmed that the new phone is called the “OnePlus Ace 5 series”.

In line with Chinese cultural beliefs, OnePlus is skipping the number 4 for this series due to tetraphobia. It is a superstition that considers the number 4 as unlucky. The company is moving straight to Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro.
OnePlus Ace 5 – Key Features (Expected)
The Ace 5 is expected to feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE X2 8T LTPO flat display, providing an immersive viewing experience. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
On the camera front, the device will include a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens, maintaining consistency with earlier Ace series models. Its 6500mAh battery is paired with 100W fast charging.
Moreover, it will feature an optical fingerprint scanner unlike the ultrasonic version seen in the OnePlus 13 and the iconic OnePlus alert slider will remain part of the design.

The Ace 5 Pro will take things up a notch by introducing a telephoto camera to the lineup. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, ensuring cutting-edge performance. The battery capacity is expected to be either 6200mAh or 6300mAh, providing ample power for extended usage.
The Ace 5 Pro additional features include:
- A telephoto camera.
- The Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
- A battery capacity of 6200mAh or 6300mAh.
While the OnePlus Ace 5 is expected to launch globally including in India as the OnePlus 13R, the Ace 5 Pro will likely remain exclusive to China. The Ace 5 could debut with the OnePlus 13 in January 2025, following the global launch timeline of the OnePlus 12.
