Oppo is set to launch the Find N5 globally on February 20 and has been officially releasing multiple teasers in the last few weeks. Constant updates and leaks have managed to keep the buzz around the foldable alive for months. Now, the most recent official update has been regarding its breakthrough in folding tech with stronger hinge certification and durability with IP rating.
Here’s what we know.
The Oppo Find N5 features a titanium alloy hinge, which has passed TÜV Rheinland’s worry-free folding certification along with a new “imperceptible crease” certification. The phone also boasts an IPX9 rating, meaning it can withstand immersion in water and high-pressure hot water jets, making it one of the most durable book-style foldable devices yet.
An Oppo official confirmed that the phone uses the company’s fourth-generation waterdrop hinge, UTG glass and other advanced screen materials to minimize the crease depth and width.
The teaser also revealed that the crease is barely noticeable compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, marking a major milestone for Oppo in hinge technology.
Oppo has achieved this while keeping the hinge only 4.2mm thick. The phone has also passed rigorous durability tests including high temperature and humidity, low-temperature folding, sharp object impact, and unfolding flatness tests. As per ITHome, this is the industry’s first foldable phone to earn TÜV dual certification.
The Find N5 will be the world’s first foldable to feature the 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset offering top-tier performance. It will also pack a massive 5,600mAh battery, a significant upgrade from the 4,805mAh battery in the Find N3 ensuring longer usage time.
