Highlights

  • Realme reportedly halting new launches in China this year with GT 9 and Neo 9 series unlikely to debut.
  • Brand to emphasise international markets, prioritising numbered lineup and performance/gaming smartphones.
  • OnePlus to continue in India/China but pause new launches in Europe/North America.

Realme may not introduce the GT 9 and Neo 9 series in China this year, according to a fresh leak. According to reports, the company is making major changes to its business strategy. These reports have arrived shortly after Realme confirmed that it is pausing new product launches in China. That’s not all. Among major strategic changes, parent brand Oppo also announced that OnePlus will stop releasing new products in Europe and North America but continue operating in China and India.

Realme Reportedly Wrapping Up Current China Smartphone Lineup

Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo claims that Realme has already ended production of all its current smartphones for the Chinese market. The remaining stock is reportedly expected to last until around November. If this information proves to be accurate, the company is unlikely to launch the Realme GT 9 or Neo 9 series in China before the end of the year.

Realme has already stated that it intends to place greater emphasis on international markets, where it sees stronger opportunities for growth particularly in the gaming and performance smartphone segments. The tipster further suggests that the company’s overseas product strategy will differ considerably from the one it previously followed in China.

Instead of expanding the GT and Neo series globally, Realme is reportedly planning to focus on its numbered smartphone lineup in several international markets. The leak also claims that the brand’s overseas portfolio will remain limited to smartphones and audio products for now with tablets and laptops currently absent.

However, a gaming-focused tablet is said to be under consideration for a future release.

OnePlus Future – What To Expect?

The leak also sheds light on OnePlus’ future plans. According to the tipster, the company is not expected to collaborate with Ricoh for camera technology and will continue to focus on delivering better gaming and overall performance.

Recent reports about the upcoming OnePlus 16 appear to support this direction. The smartphone is rumoured to feature a 185Hz refresh rate display, a larger battery, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. All this could reinforce the brand’s emphasis on high-performance hardware.

The reported strategy also fits with Oppo’s recently announced global roadmap.

As software integration across Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme continues, eligible smartphones from both OnePlus and Realme are expected to gain the ability to switch to the latest version of ColorOS in the future.

Vivo is reportedly preparing to revive its S-series smartphones in India after a long gap. The smartphone Vivo S2 has already appeared in the Bluetooth SIG certification database, which often indicates that an official announcement is not far away. And now we have a definite launch timeline to look forward to based on the latest leak on X. Here’s what we know so far

Vivo S2 Launch Timeline (Expected)

According to tipster Yogesh Brar on X, the upcoming Vivo S2 carrying model number V2576 is expected to launch in the country in early August 2026 with sales likely to begin around August 15.

The Vivo S2 is said to be positioned in the premium mid-range category, where it is expected to compete with devices such as the Oppo Reno 16 Pro. If current rumours prove accurate, the smartphone could focus on offering a stylish design along with capable camera performance.

The report also suggests that the upcoming handset may borrow several features from Vivo’s global V-series smartphones.

Upcoming Vivo S2 – What To Expect?

The Vivo S2 will arrive as the successor to the Vivo S1, which was launched in India in 2019. The original model featured a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display and was powered by the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset.

For photography, the Vivo S1 offered a 16-megapixel primary camera paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, while selfies were handled by a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, which stood out in its segment at the time. The smartphone also packed a 4,500mAh battery with 18W wired charging support.

When it debuted, the Vivo S1 was marketed as a stylish smartphone aimed at younger buyers. Its base variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage was launched at Rs. 17,990.

According to the latest leak, the Vivo S2 is expected to build on the formula of its predecessor by offering significantly upgraded hardware and improved image processing capabilities. The premium mid-range smartphone segment has evolved considerably in recent years and ongoing memory chip shortages have also affected smartphone pricing. Keeping these factors in mind, the tipster expects the Vivo S2 to launch in India at a price of under Rs. 50,000.

As the expected August launch window draws closer, more information regarding the smartphone’s processor, display, software, cameras, and pricing is likely to emerge.

Xiaomi appears to be moving closer to the launch of its next-generation tablet lineup. After unveiling the Xiaomi Pad 8 series in China last year, the company is now widely expected to introduce the Xiaomi Pad 9 series as its successor. Xiaomi Pad 9 – Leaked Specifications

Earlier reports had revealed that the standard Xiaomi Pad 9 is associated with the model numbers M656BA, 26103RP65G, and 26103RP65I. It was also discovered through HyperOS code that the tablet is expected to feature a 9,720mAh battery, which would be larger than the 9,200mAh battery found on the current Xiaomi Pad 8.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 is also tipped to be powered by a Snapdragon 8-series processor, while the Pro model is expected to deliver even higher performance.

Reports further suggest that the upcoming tablet will be an incremental upgrade over its predecessor. It is expected to retain the 11.2-inch LCD display with 3K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, while using the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. As a next-generation device, it is also expected to run HyperOS 4 based on Android 17 out of the box.

Expected Launch Timeline

According to recent reports, Xiaomi is likely to introduce the Xiaomi Pad 9 alongside the Xiaomi 18 smartphone series during an event in China this September.

Following its China debut, the tablet is also expected to make its way to other global markets including India in the months that follow.

With the device now appearing on China’s 3C certification platform, more leaks and official details about the Xiaomi Pad 9 series are expected to surface in the coming weeks.

The NBTC database has now certified a Redmi smartphone bearing the model number 2609FRA74G, confirming that it will be marketed globally as the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G.

Previously, the same device had already appeared on certification platforms including Eurofins, NCC (Taiwan), EEC (Europe), and TKDN (Indonesia). As is common with NBTC listings, the certification does not disclose the phone’s specifications.

However, earlier certifications revealed that the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G is expected to pack a 9,210mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. The handset is also tipped to offer 5G NR, dual-band Wi-Fi supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, Bluetooth Low Energy, NFC, a USB Type-C port, a microSD card slot, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The global model is expected to be available in 8GB + 256GB, 8GB + 512GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB storage configurations.

The NBTC authority has also approved the Redmi Note 17 5G carrying the model number 26081RA18G, for the global market.

According to tipster Kacper Skrzypek, the global variant is expected to offer specifications similar to the Chinese model. The main difference could be the battery capacity with the international version reportedly featuring a 7,700mAh battery compared to the 8,000mAh battery available on the Chinese edition. The tipster also claims that the Indian variant is likely to retain the larger 8,000mAh battery.

Moreover, the “2608” and “2609” prefixes in the model numbers hint that the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max could debut in August and September, respectively.

Xiaomi 17 Fold Appears on CMIIT

In a separate development, Xiaomi’s upcoming foldable smartphone carrying the model number 2608BPX34C has been certified by China’s CMIIT authority.

Although Xiaomi has yet to confirm the final branding, the foldable is currently being referred to as the Xiaomi 17 Fold, Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, or Xiaomi Mix Fold 6.

Reports suggest the device could run HyperOS 4 based on Android 17 and be powered by Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 chipset. One of the biggest expected changes is a wider foldable form factor, which could resemble upcoming foldable devices.

The foldable is also tipped to feature a 7.6-inch folding display, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 200-megapixel primary rear camera, and a 6,000mAh battery. Its “2608” model number prefix also points towards a possible August launch in China.

At the moment, there is no information regarding its international availability.
