Qualcomm is about to reveal a new budget-friendly 5G chip called the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2.
Thanks to a leak, we now know some details about this chip before the official announcement.
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is a cheaper version of last year’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2.
It’s made using the same 4nm process and has eight cores like its predecessor.
However, it runs a bit slower to save power and cost.
The chip can use LPDDR4X RAM, which is cheaper but not as fast as the LPDDR5X used in the 4 Gen 2.
This new chip can support phone screens with Full HD+ resolution at 90Hz refresh rate.
It’s designed for less expensive phones, so it might be used in phones with HD+ screens at 120Hz or Full HD+ at 90Hz.
The camera support is also a bit lower, likely working best with 50MP or 64MP main cameras.

To make the chip more affordable, Qualcomm had to make some tradeoffs.
The 5G modem in the 4s Gen 2 is slower than the one in the 4 Gen 2.
It can download data at up to 1Gbps, which is still fast but not as quick as the 2.5Gbps of the 4 Gen 2.
The chip uses older Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1 technology for connecting to networks and devices.
This is the same as the 4 Gen 2, as these are features of less expensive chips.
Despite these changes, the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 still has some nice features.
It can play high-quality audio, reduce noise in photos, and stabilize videos.
