According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Qualcomm is all set to become the only system-on-chip supplier for the new lineup of Galaxy S25 smartphones at Samsung.
This will be one of the biggest strategic changes that Samsung, generally seen using a mix of its in-house Exynos chips and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors across geographies, is going to make.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 to Power Samsung’s Flagship
Samsung is going to adopt Qualcomm’s new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC for the Galaxy S25 series across the globe.
That’s because of the lower-than-forecasted yield for Samsung’s Exynos 2500 SoC, fabbed using the 3nm process node.
Although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is reportedly going to make some performance upgrades, Qualcomm is reportedly going to raise the price of this chipset by 25%-30%.
Considering that it is going to be an exclusive supplier for the Galaxy S25 series, the company will probably gain some financial benefits from this price raise.
Next-Gen Performance and Features
Details regarding the specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are surfacing slowly.
Qualcomm did confirm earlier that this chipset was going to be powered by the Oryon CPU, along with a brand new NPU to push AI capabilities further.
Qualcomm will likely be the sole SoC supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S25 (vs. 40% for the S24), as the Exynos 2500 may not ship due to Samsung’s lower-than-expected 3nm yield.
In addition to the significant increase in supply share, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will see a price…

A rumour is floating with the assessment of the peak clock speed, sustaining something as high as 4 GHz on two prime cores and six high-performance cores.
The graphics department will be handled by the Adreno 830 GPU, touted by Qualcomm as better than Apple’s M2 chipset.
There will be further optimization for it on Samsung’s part for its flagships, and maybe even an overclocked “Made for Galaxy” variant might make its way out of the company stables.
Unveiling at Snapdragon Summit 2024
Qualcomm is set to officially unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 at the Snapdragon Summit 2024, scheduled for October 21 in Hawaii.
With Samsung’s decision to rely solely on Qualcomm for the Galaxy S25 series, the chipmaker’s partnership with TSMC, which will manufacture the SoC using the 3nm N3E process, is also likely to strengthen.
