  • Leaked specs: Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display
  • European pricing: €700 for 12/256GB, €825 for 16/512GB

In a highly unusual incident, Realme’s entire initial shipment of GT 6 smartphones destined for Spain has been stolen while in transit, forcing a delay in the hotly-anticipated mid-ranger’s European rollout.

The official Realme Spain account took to Twitter/X to share the disappointing news, explaining that despite exhaustive efforts, they have been unable to recover the missing devices after they were stolen somewhere along the journey to the country.

“For reasons beyond our control, our Realme GT 6 phones have been stolen on their way to Spain. We have not been able to recover them despite having done everything possible,” the statement read. As a result, Realme apologized that they cannot “guarantee the in-store experience we would like during launch week.”

While device thefts are not unheard of, it is extremely rare for an entire shipment to vanish, especially for a major product launch.

Spanish reports suggest the heist occurred on May 29th when the truck driver was robbed at gunpoint and the vehicle’s contents emptied.

As the driver stopped at a service area to take some rest, the robbers emptied all the cargo.

The Realme GT 6’s unveiling in neighbouring Portugal may also face disruptions due to this incident.

Realme had ambitious plans for Europe after shipping over 200 million phones globally in just five years to become the 5th fastest brand to reach that milestone.

The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

It will feature a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display, a 5,500mAh battery with 100W charging, and an upgraded triple camera setup led by a 50MP main shooter, accompanied by a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and an 8MP ultrawide.

Pricing in Romania is listed as €700 for the 12/256GB variant and €825 for the top 16/512GB model.

In Poland, the higher storage option is priced around €800.

Despite the turbulent launch, the Realme GT 6 was highly anticipated as a potential “flagship killer” priced substantially under €1,000.

As Realme works to get the rollout back on track, customers will be hoping the impressive specs can make up for this extremely rare and disruptive theft incident.
