Realme Narzo N53 – Unboxing
Let’s get to the unboxing of the Realme Narzo 53 and explore the features of this budget-friendly smartphone.
As you open the sleek sea blue colour packaging, you are greeted by the Realme Narzo 53 itself, elegantly nestled within. The device showcases a modern and stylish design, featuring a large 6.72-inch display that immediately catches your eye.
Beneath the smartphone, you’ll find a collection of accessories carefully placed to enhance your user experience. Unveil the charger, which comes equipped with Realme’s fast charging technology, ensuring you can power up your device quickly and efficiently.
Apart from this, other in-the-box accessories inside the Realme Narzo 53 retail box include USB Type-C Cable, 11V/3A Power Adapter, a Brown transparent Protect Case, SIM Card Needle, a Quick Guide and some Important Info Booklet (including the Warranty Card).
Now, let’s get to the actual product and its overall experience.
Realme Narzo N53 Design
The first thing we noticed about Realme Narzo N53 is its slim, sleek design. If we are not mistaken, it’s the slimmest Realme smartphone at 7.49 mm thickness. We had the Feather Gold variant for this review.
The variant has a line-like texture on the back but it comes with a shiny and very glossy finish. The back of the phone gives off beautiful vibes as it reacts to the light of its surroundings.
The good thing is even though it comes with a glossy back it doesn’t attract any fingerprints or smudges.
The dual cameras on the back have an interesting design. Even though it looks like a triple camera setup but the right module in the camera setup is basically the flash.
You get the side capacitor fingerprint scanner, which is very responsive and quick to unlock. At the bottom are a 3.5 headphone jack, a microphone, a USB-C port and a single down-firing speaker. The SIM card tray can house two nano SIM cards and it’s also got support for a dedicated SD card up to 2TB.
Realme Narzo N53 Display
Coming to the display, you get a 6.74-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1600 by 720 pixels. Now, even though this is not a full HD display, the text is very clearly visible and the colour reproduction is also actually quite good.
The overall display experience is so close to an AMOLED that most regular users would not even notice a difference.
Where you will notice a difference, however, is the 90hz refresh rate that provides smooth animations and a drastic upgrade from the regular 60hz refresh rate you get with other budget smartphones available in the market.
Users do get the option to switch the device to 60hz if needed. This is an interesting feature that will also help you save battery.
You can spot the Water Drop Notch housing the 8-megapixel front camera very easily at first glance. The Notch comes with a mini capsule and it’s basically a software feature which uses the camera’s Notch to provide you with more info about the battery.
For example, when you plug the device into charge, you can see Super VOOC charging along with the battery percentage with the blue ring around it. When the battery is full, it turns green from its red colour indicator which shows up when the battery is low.
With an OT update in future, it will also show you your data usage and your daily step statistics like a steps counter. This feature is currently at a very early stage so there’s no support for third-party apps.
Watching movies and videos on this smartphone is a pretty good experience. Its visuals are clear and bright. The device comes with Widevine L3 certification, so apps such as Netflix and Prime videos will be restricted to only 540p.
However, in our experience, we found the streaming experience really clear and very much viewable. Considering the price bracket, we believe the viewing experience is more than satisfactory.
Realme Narzo N53 Performance
To understand the performance capabilities of Realme Narzo N53, let’s start by looking at the hardware. The device is powered by the Unisoc T612 chipset. Now, this is not an extreme powerhouse but it’s not slouched either.
Basic routine apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Gmail and Google Maps work like a breeze. Assuming most people are going to buy this phone are going to use these kinds of apps, we say the performance is in line with the expectations.
The unit we had for this review came with 6 GB LPDDR4X RAM type. There’s also another variant that comes with 4GB RAM and you can further expand by another 6 GB, giving a total of 12 GB RAM.
This is one of the most unique selling points of this device. To have such specifications for an under 10,000 smartphone is a total steal.
It helps launch apps quickly, multitasking becomes a breeze, and the best part is most often used apps are still in memory.
We ran some benchmarks starting with AnTuTu and we got the results of 221328, which is quite good for the price range. The storage type is EMMC 5.1 and we ran the test for that as well and we got the results of 304MB Read reading and 242MB Write reading. It’s definitely not the best in the market but okay for a smartphone at this price range.
When it comes to gaming, most basic games like Candy Crush and Subway Surfer will work really well. But we suggest you manage your gaming expectations considering the product price and certain hardware specifications. Casual gaming on this smartphone is good to go.
As for the user experience, it’s running on Android 13 Go Edition. It is a light version of Android that consumes lesser space and it’s well-optimized for mid-range chipsets. It mostly looks similar to stock Android.
Moreover, the everyday smartphone experience is very smooth and clean. When we are saying clean, we mean no unwanted features but surely we were annoyed with the addition of excessive bloatware. The good thing is you can delete most of the apps that you don’t need.
Realme Narzo N53 Camera
Let’s talk about the camera. Realme has packed some basic camera features that any user would expect to get in a smartphone in today’s time. We tried taking some pictures using the-50 megapixel rear camera with not much expectation and the results were really impressive.
During the daytime, the quality of the end shots is good, natural colours dynamic range is also pretty decent and very clear.
We also tried to take some shots in low light and in all honesty, the end shots seemed quite decent to us. Especially if you consider the price of this phone, the camera quality is surely what you are paying for. Certainly, it’s not great but it’s not bad either.
The full HD video shoot, short handheld was not the smoothest but still managed to maintain a good amount of detail in the end results.
The 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling was very clear. We tested it as well and it came out decent with good skin tones and ample brightness. Portrait shots were okay as was the Edge Detection 2 feature.
Selfies taken in low light, however, often came out blurry. Though after multiple attempts, we managed to take a pretty clear selfie using the same camera.
The front camera can record videos only up to 720p, which is pretty okay for the smartphone of this segment.
Realme Narzo N53 Battery
The Realme Narzo N53 is easily the slimmest Realme phone available in the market now and it is great that users do not have to do any battery trade-off to get such a sleek design.
The device unexpectedly comes with a huge 5000 mAh battery that will easily last you a day to even two days with light usage.
Moreover, we are delighted to see a 33-watt fast charger bundled with the device. Most under 10000 smartphones come with either a 10-watt or a maximum 18-watt charger. So, Realme here upgraded the overall power functionality and this is amazing.
The Narzo N53 gets you to 50 per cent power in half an hour and from 0 to 100 per cent battery charge in just about an hour and twenty minutes. This for a budget phone is surely beyond our expectations.
Verdict
The Realme Narzo N53 has a lot of features that other smartphones in the under 10000 price bracket don’t have. This includes features such as the fingerprint scanner, a super slim design and a 33 Watt fast charging support.
Then we also get the exciting Mini Capsule feature that none of the phones in this price bracket offer. We would like to see this feature develop further in the future where we can make more use of it. But still, it’s a good start.
The Narza N53 packs in a lot for a budget phone. From watching movies to playing games, the smartphone gives you a powerhouse of entertainment. It is a perfect device for a regular smartphone user.
All-in-all, the smartphone is indeed a smart choice for people who are looking for an easy-to-use budget smartphone that gets most basic tasks done.
