* The smartphone is an upgraded variant of Redmi 12C.

Xiaomi made its latest move in the budget segment with the release of the Redmi 12 in Thailand.
The brand is yet to bring the phone to one of its major strongholds – India.
The phone is not yet available in the market, but that will change pretty soon as the phone is set to debut in the country.
Xiaomi is working on the upcoming Redmi Note 13 series smartphones, which will debut in December or January 2024. Recently, one of the forthcoming devices was spotted in the IMEI database.
However, the company has continued launching smartphones as part of the Redmi Note 12 series branding.
The Chinese OEM has unveiled over a dozen smartphones under the Note 12 branding.
After multiple leaks and rumours, Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi 12 smartphone in Thailand.
The company is expected to launch the new Redmi smartphone in India next week.
A new report from Xiaomiui has revealed the launch timeline of the upcoming smartphone.
The device would be priced above Redmi 12C and features slight improvements over the existing device.
Redmi 12: Launch Imminent with the Indian Software
According to experts at Xiaomiui, the phone will land soon in the Indian market. It will come with the market-specific software V14.0.2.0.TMXINXM.
It’s common for Xiaomi to split its releases into three distinct regions: China (CN), Global (G or EU), and India (IN).
As we can see, the V14.0.2.0.TMXINXM has the “IN” for India. Now that the software is finalized, it’s just a matter of time until Redmi India schedules a launch for the local Mi fans.
The differences between EU, IN, and Global ROMs are mostly in the number of languages available and some market-specific details.
The Chinese version of MIUI is the one that differs more from the other three branches.
Xiaomi is popular in India and the Redmi smartphone series is always among the best-selling devices in the market. So it makes perfect sense for the brand to move to the Indian market.
The device is a nice budget option for consumers that don’t need 5G.
The Redmi 12 packs a 6.79-inch LCD screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate. It has a Full HD+ resolution with 2,460 x 1,080 pixels and a punch-hole for the selfie snapper.
Under the hood, the phone boasts the aging MediaTek Helio G88 with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of Internal Storage.
The phone has a triple-camera setup with a 50 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2 MP depth sensor.
There is a modest 8 MP shooter for selfies and video calls.
The Redmi 12 draws power from a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging.
The phone has micro SD card support, a 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.3, and an IR Blaster.
The phone is available for about €151,99 which comes to about INR 13,660.
The Redmi 12 has an appealing price and offers a decent set of specs for Indian users that don’t need a powerhouse or 5G connectivity.
It’s also a better offering than the Redmi A2 or A2+ smartphones.
Hence, it should find its audience in the market despite the strong competition.
Redmi 12 Launch Timeline and Specifications
Xiaomiui has spotted the Indian firmware of the upcoming Redmi smartphone in the official MIUI server.
The report reveals that the upcoming device will have the build number V14.0.2.0.TMXINXM.
The “IN” in the firmware denotes that the software is made for the Indian market.
The “IN” would be replaced by “EU” and other codes for smartphones in other markets.
The report adds that Xiaomi might launch the smartphone in the first week of July. We can expect Redmi India to officially announce the smartphone’s launch date in the upcoming days.
Xiaomi had priced the smartphone at TBH 5,299 (approx. Rs 12,530) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The company hadn’t revealed the pricing of the other variants with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage and 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Xiaomi is speculated to price the smartphone at Rs 10,999 for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The smartphone offers a better display, processor, camera, and fast charging support than the Redmi 12C smartphone.
Xiaomi has launched the vanilla Redmi 12 smartphone in Midnight Black, Sky Blue, and Polar Silver colour options in Thailand.
The company equips the smartphone with a 6.79-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution.
Underneath, it is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity Helio G88 SoC which is built on a 12nm process.
