Highlights

  • The upcoming Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G has been spotted in the IMEI database.
  • It will support 90W fast charging.
  • A downgrade from the 120W fast charging in the previous generation.

It can be confirmed that the upcoming Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G will come with 90W fast charging support. The smartphone was recently spotted in the IMEI database after the Note 14 5G and Note 14 Pro 5G models were.

A 90W fast charging capability in the Pro+ model of the new Redmi Note series is surprising. It is a downgrade from the 120W fast charging found in the previous generation Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G.

As per a recent Gizmochina report, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G is listed in IMEI with model number 24115RA8EG.

The smartphone has already passed 3C certification and was confirmed to support 90W fast charging.

There was some confusion about the model number previously. Some reports suggested model 24115RA8EG referred to Note 14 Pro 5G However, recent IMEI database spotting has clarified that.

A Gizmochina report also confirms that Xiaomi has made a downgrade in the fast charging speed for the entire Redmi Note 14 series.

While 90W would still be considered fast as per industry standards, tech enthusiasts have been wondering what made Xiaomi decide to reduce the charging speed. The 120W fast charging has been standard since the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G. This downgrade is surely unexpected in an industry where every brand tries to push specs further.

The new Redmi Note 14 series brings changes in fast charging technology across different models. While the standard Note 14 5G sees an upgrade from 33W to 45W fast charging, the Pro and Pro+ models experience a decrease.

It is a possibility that Xiaomi might be focusing on optimising charging efficiency and not necessarily pushing higher wattage.

Previously the two models of the Note 14 series – Note 14 5G and Note 14 Pro 5G – were spotted in online databases.

The full Redmi Note 14 series is expected to be officially launched at the end of the month.

More details will be revealed by Xiaomi in the coming days.
