Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 S-Pen visits FCC

As seen in the images above, the S-Pen for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 (model number EJ-PX710) has recently been certified by the FCC.

For those unaware, the same stylus was previously spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification website as well.

The FCC certification reveals the technical aspects of the S-Pen, like its permissible frequency range, power supply, antenna type, and a couple of schematics of its internals.

It remains to be seen whether there will be a dedicated slot made to insert the S-Pen in or whether the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series will have a magnetic layer on which the stylus can be attached.

Speaking of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, the tablet is said to feature 8GB/12GB/16GB RAM and 128GB/256GB/512GB internal storage.

The brand is said to be dropping the microSD card slot from the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series, so this is pretty much all the storage users will get out of the box, cloud storage aside. All three tablets are tipped to feature AMOLED panels.

The series is expected to be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. As for the launch date, the tablets are expected to hit the commercial shelves sometime by the end of Q2 2023 or in Q3 2023.

The Bluetooth SIG listing further reveals that the S Pen of the Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Tab S9 supports Bluetooth 5.1. The Galaxy Tab S9 was recently spotted on the 3C certification website.

It revealed that the Android tablet will pack a slightly bigger battery than its outgoing model. The Galaxy Tab S9’s battery will have a rated capacity of 8160mAh. This means that the tablet might launch with a typical battery capacity could be between 8400-8500mAh. The Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S8, in comparison, featured a rated capacity of 7760mAh and a typical value of 8000mAh.

In related news, design renders of the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus, which will be a bigger version of the Tab S9, had leaked online. The design renders suggest that the Tab S9 Plus will come with a dual-camera setup on the back.

The camera module design is similar to the flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 series. It has two circular cutouts and an LED flash. There is a magnetic strip under the LED flash for the S Pen. While there are no concrete details, it might be possible that the vanilla Tab S9 might carry the same design.

On the front, the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus has two sensors on the right bezel. It is unknown what the secondary sensor does. In addition to these details, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy tabs are tipped to feature an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
