Samsung has recently addressed rumours regarding its plans for a mid-range foldable smartphone.
Contrary to earlier speculations, the company has clarified that it does not intend to produce budget-friendly foldable phones.
Initial reports suggested Samsung might introduce an affordable foldable smartphone, akin to the mid-range Galaxy A series, priced around $400 to $500.
These rumours hinted at a potential Samsung Galaxy Z Fold SE, which could have been a more accessible option for those interested in foldable technology but deterred by high prices.
However, a Samsung spokesperson, as reported by Korea JoongAng Daily, has categorically denied these claims.
The spokesperson stated, “We don’t plan to manufacture foldable smartphones that are priced in the midrange, and the latest rumours are groundless.”
Samsung’s current lineup of foldable phones includes high-end models like the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5.
These devices, launched a few months ago, are priced at the premium end of the market, with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 starting at $999 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 at $1,799.
This pricing strategy aligns with Samsung’s focus on delivering cutting-edge technology in its foldable range, targeting consumers seeking premium features and design.
The recent clarification by the company reaffirms its commitment to maintaining its foldable phones as high-end offerings, rather than expanding into the mid-range market segment.
Samsung has confirmed that they have no plans to manufacture mid-range foldable smartphones. This response directly addresses and denies recent rumors suggesting the contrary.
Earlier reports speculated that Samsung might introduce an affordable foldable smartphone, possibly named Galaxy Z Fold SE, priced similarly to mid-range Galaxy A series phones. However, these rumours have been officially refuted by Samsung.
Samsung’s current foldable smartphones, like the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, are priced in the premium segment. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 starts at $999, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 at $1,799.
