HIGHLIGHTS
* Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is expected to launch with only an Exynos chipset.
* There might not be a Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S23 FE model.
* The launch is also expected to take place before the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.
Samsung is reportedly planning to launch the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone as early as July, and before the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.
There have been rumours on the Galaxy S23 FE’s specifications, and how it will be a watered-down version of the flagship Galaxy S23 series. It is now tipped that the Galaxy S23 FE will launch with the in-house Exynos chip and not a Snapdragon.
The Galaxy S23 FE is said to launch with the Exynos 2200 chipset which is the first from Samsung to feature an AMD Radeon GPU. This is also the same chipset that powers the Galaxy S22, Samsung’s flagship series from last year.
Samsung is expected to ship only Exynos-powered Galaxy S23 FE models and no Snapdragon models.
Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone later this year, according to a recent tweet by the source @Tech_Reve. The device is said to be equipped with Samsung’s own Exynos 2200 processor, with no Qualcomm Snapdragon version expected.
Samsung Galaxy S23 FE likely to miss Snapdragon version
The choice to utilize the Exynos 2200 processor instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor is believed to be a strategic move by Samsung to cut costs and maintain profitability.
However, this decision may have an impact on the sales of the Galaxy S23 FE, considering the less successful performance of the Galaxy S22 series.
Other leaked specifications of the Galaxy S23 FE, shared by @Tech_Reve, reveal that the device will feature either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, operating at a speedy 6.4 Gbps. Storage options are expected to include UFS 3.1 with capacities of 128GB or 256GB.
In terms of the camera setup, the front camera is rumored to sport a 12-megapixel sensor with a pixel size of 1.12um. The main camera is said to have a whopping 50-megapixel sensor with a pixel size of 1.0um (GN3).
The device is also expected to include a 3x telephoto lens with an 8-megapixel sensor and a pixel size of 1.0um (Hi-347), as well as an ultra-wide-angle camera with a 12-megapixel sensor and a pixel size of 1.12um (IMX258).
Recent reports have also shed light on the software development for the European version of the Galaxy S23 FE. Firmware testing has begun for the device, specifically for model number SM-S711B. However, no firmware has been seen yet for the US and South Korean variants.
This testing phase suggests that the device’s launch is still some time away, possibly not until early 2024. Samsung is rumored to launch highly anticipated flagship devices like Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 by the end of July.
This bit of information comes from the same tipster @Tech_Reve who earlier suggested the launch timeline for the Galaxy S23 FE. Samsung is reportedly pushing ahead the launch of Galaxy S23 FE to make up for the declining sale of the Galaxy S23 series.
So we could see the launch taking place sometime in July or August.

Faqs on Samsung Galaxy S23 FE
1) What are Samsung Galaxy S23 FE specifications (expected)?
Ans) Here’s a look at what the Galaxy S23 FE could launch with based on leaks and rumours:
* Processor, RAM and storage: The Galaxy S23 FE is expected to be powered by the Exynos 2200 chipset paired with 6GB + 8GB of RAM and 128GB + 256GB of onboard storage.
* Cameras: In the photography department, it could house triple rear cameras with a 50MP wide-angle lens, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra wide-angle lens. For selfies, there could be a 12MP front camera.
* Battery: The smartphone is also expected to pack a 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support.
2) Samsung Galaxy S23 FE tipped to arrive in Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Exynos 2200 flavours.Details?
Ans) Multiple reports claimed the Galaxy S23 FE didn’t exist. Some still do, but the overwhelming consensus among insiders is that the smartphone is real. However, there has been a hot debate about its specs, with an earlier rumour stating it would feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Multiple leakers have now zeroed in on an entirely different piece of hardware.
@OreXDA and @Tech_Reve, two prominent Twitter leakers, now say the Galaxy S23 FE will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. A rumour from Meeco spotted by another Twitter user @QaM_Section31 user adds a unique twist- at least one variant of the affordable flagship will be powered by the doomed Exynos 2200. It will, however, be fabricated on Samsung’s “improved” 4 nm process, potentially allowing it to outperform its predecessor found on the Galaxy S22.
@OreXDA adds FE-branded smartphones will replace the “Plus” variants in the future. It seems a bit far-fetched, especially when the Galaxy S23 FE was touted as a Galaxy A7x replacement. The two-chipset rumour also suggests Samsung could go back to its two-pronged approach again. Then again, it was supposed to do so regardless, with the Galaxy S24 marking the return of Exynos SoCs.
Other Galaxy S23 FE specs include a 120 Hz OLED screen and three Samsung ISOCELL GN3 camera sensors. At first glance, it doesn’t seem all that different from the vanilla Galaxy S23/Galaxy S23+, but it could miss out on some of the goodies, such as wireless charging and an all-glass chassis. The smartphone will supposedly retail at US$699 and launch sometime in Q4 2023, although Meeco’s Vampire King says it could come as early as August.
