* Samsung Galaxy S24 flagship series tipped to get more RAM and storage
* The Korean smartphone maker could boost the base storage to 256GB and also equip the devices with 12GB RAM
* Rumours also suggest the inclusion of the Exynos 2400 chipset variant in the mix.
Samsung’s flagship smartphone for 2024, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, could be launched with more RAM and more storage. The flagship-grade smartphone series from the Korean tech giant could also pack in the Exynos 2400 chipset that’s developed in-house.
These leaks come courtesy of a tipster on Twitter who goes by the name Tarun Vats and a Korean tipster account.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series was also recently tipped to get a new and faster 144Hz high refresh rate display.
Samsung Galaxy S23 series was launched about a couple of months ago in India and other markets.
The new Galaxy S23 series got many upgrades, such as a 200MP main camera in the S23 Ultra, a new design for the S23 and S23 Plus and a customised version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for all three phones.
It has been a few weeks since the S23 series went on sale in India and other markets and the rumour mill has already starting churning out details about the upcoming Galaxy S24 series.
A new leak has now revealed the RAM, storage and some other details of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
A separate report also claims that the Galaxy S24 series will revive Samsung’s in-house Exynos SoC next year.
Let’s take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S24 series early leaks, specifications, features and other details known so far.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Series tipped to get more power under the hood
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 series is about 10 months away from launch, however, that doesn’t deter tipsters from speculating about it.
A new tweet now suggests that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 flagship series could now get improved hardware under the skin.
The tipster claims that the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ could get more RAM in the figure of 12GB instead of the usual 8GB. The base storage option could also be boosted to 256GB.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra which will be the most expensive device out of the lineup is expected to be equipped with up to 16GB of RAM. This variant could be paired with 512GB or 1TB of internal storage. Samsung could continue to offer a 12GB RAM base variant as is the case with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
A Korean report suggests that the upcoming flagship series from Samsung for 2024 could also feature an Exynos 2400 chipset-based variant.
The Exynos 2400 SoC could get a 10-core CPU with one Prime X4 core, two Cortex-A720 gold cores, 3x Cortex-A720 silver cores and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores.
However, reliable tipster Ice Universe has nullified such rumours suggesting that the chances of such are next to none.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Series: What the Early Leaks Suggest
Samsung Galaxy S24 series is months away from its rumoured launch timeline.
The Galaxy S24 series might debut in February 2024.
Almost 10 months ahead of the rumoured launch, a new leak claims that the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra will get an upgrade in the RAM and storage departments.
The base models of all three Galaxy S series flagships launching next year are said to pack more RAM.
The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus will reportedly have 12GB of RAM in their base models.
In comparison, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus have 8GB of RAM as standard. The storage capacity of the baseline S24 and S24 Plus is also said to increase.
The tipster claims that the S24 and S24 Plus will come with 256GB of storage.
While the Galaxy S23 is available in 128GB and 256GB storage options, the S23 Plus is available in 256GB and 512GB storage options. Therefore, there is a possibility that the base model of the vanilla S24 also gets 256GB of storage.
The tipster also revealed that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will sit at the top of the lineup, will feature up to 16GB of RAM.
Samsung might launch the phone with the base model packing 12GB of RAM, which is also the case with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The 16GB RAM variant could possibly pack 512GB or 1TB of storage.
If the leaked details are true, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will possibly be the first Samsung smartphone to offer a 16GB RAM option.
A separate report from Korea suggests that the upcoming Galaxy S24 series might feature an Exynos 2400 SoC variant. Samsung will launch a Snapdragon variant of the phone as well.
The rumoured Exynos 2400 SoC is tipped to feature a 10-core CPU with one Prime X4 core, two Cortex-A720 gold cores, 3x Cortex-A720 silver cores and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores.
However, tipster Ice Universe, who is one of the reliable tipsters out there, says otherwise.
While some of the leaks look impressive, it is too early to say that the details are anywhere close to being legitimate.

FAQ’s on Samsung Galaxy S24
1) Is Samsung to reintroduce Exynos in Galaxy smartphones ?
Ans) Samsung initially used Galaxy S series with ‘Snapdragon,’ an AP produced by Exynos and Qualcomm. Samsung’s share in the global AP market has shrunk sharply, falling to 5th place with 7% in the third quarter of last year.
This is due to increased competition from products designed by competitors such as Taiwan’s MediaTek, even in entry-level models. Qualcomm took second place with 31%, followed by Apple in third place and China’s UniSOC in fourth place.
2) Is Exynos yield and heat problems leading to cost burden for Samsung?
Ans) The sluggishness of Exynos has led to a cost burden for Samsung’s mobile experience (MX) division, which produces smartphones. Mobile AP purchases last year increased by about 49.9% year-on-year to 9,313.8 billion won.
The DX division accounted for 12.8% of the total purchase amount, which was the largest, beating out camera modules and display panels. The rapid increase in usage of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AP is causing an increased burden on mobile AP purchasers.
3) What are Samsung’s Exynos improvement and plans for future development?
Ans) Samsung Electronics has redesigned the Exynos 2200 to increase its presence in the AP market and improve yield. The Galaxy S23 FE with the Exynos 2200 is expected to release in Q4 2023. Samsung is also developing the Exynos 2400 for use in the Galaxy S24 next year.
4) What is Exynos lineup in low-end smartphones?
Ans) Samsung Electronics is expanding its Exynos lineup in both flagship and low-end smartphones, represented by the A series.
The proportion of A series sales determines the company’s smartphone performance for the year. The recently launched Exynos 1380 is evaluated as having premium AP performance despite being low-end. The lower model Exynos 1330 is also expected to be installed in the A14 series and target emerging markets such as India.
Samsung Electronics is speeding up the development of next-generation APs like Galaxy-specific chips to regain the position it lost to Qualcomm in the premium market. The company’s System LSI Division set up the ‘AP Solution Development Team’ and hired core developers from AMD and ARM to optimize AP and CPU research.
5) How has Samsung expanded Exynos brand in communication chip market?
Ans) Samsung Electronics expands the Exynos brand and aims to enter the communication chip market beyond the AP. The first product of the Exynos Connect brand, UWB-based short-range wireless communication semiconductor ‘Exynos Connect U100’, is recently launched.
It accurately measures distance and location between devices in several centimeters range, suitable for smart home and factory. The product’s optimized power mode makes it useful for IoT devices like mobile or location-aware tags that need to operate with a low-capacity battery for a long time.
