Samsung is getting ready to launch some of awesome flagship-level devices on July 26 during the Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung seems to be more focused on Galaxy Z Flip 5 than other products scheduled to launch during the event.
The company has kept Galaxy Z Flip 5 at the epicentre for the marketing of the event. There have been a number of reports and rumours around this much-anticipated smartphone but now for the first time, its hands-on video seems to have been leaked via /SlashLeaks.
Samsung is hosting its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26th where it’s going to launch a new generation of foldables. The South Korean giant hasn’t revealed the models yet but it will most likely be the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
There have been multiple rumours and leaks suggesting the same. A new leak has now popped up and it’s supposedly the dummy unit of the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are expected to be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26 and they are currently up for pre-reservations in India.
Multiple leaks over the past few months have already revealed quite a lot about the next-generation foldable phones and most recently, a hands-on video of the dummy units of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has surfaced online.
The video suggests the design of the upcoming flip phone. It is shown with a folder-shaped external display and appears to have a hinge gap. Like the previous model, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is seen featuring a fingerprint sensor.
Leakspinner (via SlashLeaks) shared a hands-on video and images of the dummy units of Galaxy Z Flip 5. They suggest a design language similar to last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 4.
However, it is seen with a much larger folder-shaped cover display with two camera modules.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has been widely expected to come with a water drop style hinge design to eliminate the gap between both halves while folding. The video, however, reveals a distinct gap when the clamshell foldable is folded.
The volume rocker and power button with integrated fingerprint reader are seen arranged on the right edge of the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The SIM card tray appears to be placed on the left and a USB Type-C port is seen on the bottom.
These design elements appear to match up with what we’ve seen in older leaks. However, it is worth taking these leaked images with a grain of salt.
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled to take place on July 26 at 4:30pm IST. It will be streamed live via the company’s website and YouTube channel.
Samsung is currently taking pre-reservations for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in India.
Here’s the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Dummy Unit
This is a dummy unit so it’s obviously not the finished product but it does show the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s complete design. The biggest upgrade this year is said to be the cover display which is going to be larger than the previous models. This is also in line with the latest flip foldables which have a large cover display.
The leaked video shared by Slash Leaks shows the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in white colour with a gold frame. There are dual selfie cameras sitting just below the cover display.
On the inside, there’s a punch-hole selfie camera that’s sitting at the top centre of the display. The USB Type-C port and speaker grille are located at the bottom.
Overall, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 looks much like the Galaxy Z Flip 4 but with a bigger cover display.
Leaks suggest it’s going to be a 3.4-inch cover display. As for the rest of the specifications, here’s what we know so far.
What Video Showed?
The video shows Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones in black and white colour with larger cover display compared to previous smartphones of this series.
The rear side has a dual camera setup with a slight bump and is arranged horizontally with a flash. The cover display leaving an equal area around three sides has left enough space below the camera and flash.
Rumours suggest that this smartphone will come with an improved hinge leaving a minimum gap when it’s folded. Though the video didn’t show something like that because the phone could be seen with a gap in the hinge.
The rest of the things looked quite similar to Galaxy Z Flip 4 in terms of design with a side fingerprint sensor, volume and power button.
Expected Features of Galaxy Z Flip 5
As far as its features are concerned it is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and pack 512 GB of internal storage.
The rear side that could be seen with a dual camera setup in the video can be 12 MP cameras while the front side can boast a 10 MP selfie camera.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 is likely to come with OneUI 5.1 based on Android 13 OS. According to SamMobile, this smartphone would be the most compact smartphone to support Samsung Dex.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Specifications (Expected)
Recently, complete specifications of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 leaked online. It is tipped to run on Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1 and might pack a 6.7-inch full-HD+ (1,080, 2,640 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED main display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The outer screen is tipped to be a 3.4-inch 748 x 720 panel with an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. It could run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is said to come in 265GB and 512GB storage options. It is likely to pack a 12-megapixel primary camera alongside a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter.
It is expected to feature a 10-megapixel selfie camera as well.
