Reports suggest Samsung has postponed the launch of an affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 ‘Fan Edition’ model.

Stiff competition from Chinese foldable phones made it difficult to achieve a thinner design and lower price point.

Instead, Samsung will focus efforts on improving the mainstream Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 models.
Cost savings and experience from the development of the now-scrapped ‘Fan Edition’ will likely be transferred to better the flagship units.
As mentioned, the intense competition from Chinese makers of foldable phones has made the South Korean giant rethink it thinner and more affordable Z Fold 6 ‘Fan Edition’.

To make this ‘Fan Edition’ more affordable, Samsung had considered removing certain premium features from the Z Fold 6.
For instance, the plan was to ship this model without support for the S Pen stylus, thereby skipping the digitizer layer and reducing thickness.
Chipset Dilemma for Galaxy Z Flip 6
About the Galaxy Z Flip 6: one of the more disappointing recent rumours had it that there will be a chipset split in the offerings.
While some versions were said to use the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, others would be stuck with the slightly less capable Exynos 2400 processor.
This chipset-splitting approach is somewhat what Samsung has done with the Galaxy S24 series, though.
For the company’s foldable lineup, though, it usually sticks to just one top-spec chipset; so, this rumour was rather disheartening yet surprising for fans and observers.
Now, a credible leaker has said that all Galaxy Z Flip 6 models could make do with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, after all, coming apparent internal disagreements at Samsung over chipset choice.
This latest leak is not to be taken for granted, though, considering the relatively slim track record this leaker has in the leak community.
