Samsung has been constantly claiming that the upcoming Galaxy S25 would carry a “top-of-the-line” camera. Now recent reports give a contrary picture that may leave many Samsung fans disappointed.

If recent reports are to be believed, Samsung plans to keep the same 50MP Camera from the Galaxy S22 for the next two generations of Galaxy S-Series phones as well. To refresh your memory, Samsung has been using the same 50MP camera sensor in its Galaxy S series since 2022’s Galaxy S22.

The next two generations of Galaxy S Series in question here include the Galaxy S25 and S26.

Popular Tipster Ice Universe on X (previously Twitter) recently claimed that Samsung has decided to stick with this same camera for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26.

If these latest reports are true, this would mean that we will see the same camera across five generations of Samsung’s flagship phones. This would surely spark some disappointment among fans.

We have seen Samsung using this same 50MP sensor previously in Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Fold 5. And that’s not all. Many reports have also confirmed the same sensor for the upcoming Fold 6 as well.

For those of you who aren’t aware, the Galaxy S24 uses the Samsung ISOCELL (S5K)GN3 main sensor. This comes with video recording capabilities ranging from 8K at 30fps to 240fps in Full HD.

Meanwhile, other competitive brands such as Google, OnePlus, and Xiaomi have already adopted larger camera sensors. The camera upgrades of these brands provide a better overall camera performance.

For example, the Pixel 9 and Xiaomi 14 feature a 1/1.31″ sensor. The OnePlus 12, on the other hand, equips a 1/1.43″ sensor.

The 50MP sensor used in S22 was a significant upgrade when it was first introduced. It was replacing the 12MP camera used in earlier Galaxy S models, other than the Ultra versions.

However, many experts and the Samsung fanbase have constantly voiced their opinions that a camera sensor upgrade for the future Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 is long overdue.

As of now, it can be confirmed that Galaxy S25 will be getting a modest upgrade. As per rumours, it most likely getting a new camera ring design and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. On the other hand, charging specs will reportedly remain the same as its predecessor.
