The teleco will be using Truecaller’s Verified Business Caller ID solution for its customer service. This partnership comes amid the increasing occurrence of customer service fraud. It was earlier this year when we first heard Truecaller was exploring partnerships with Indian telecom operators. Its goal was to help telcos fight spam and frauds that keep increasing with time. The collaboration with Vi represents a significant step in reinforcing trust and strengthening customer interactions within the fast-paced, customer-centric telecom sector. Truecaller’s Verified Business solution has become integral to creating a more secure and trusted communication environment. Vi, Truecaller partner for secure customer experience As part of the collaboration, Truecaller will provide a secure and improved customer communication experience to Vi customers. Through its Verified Business Caller ID solution, the caller identification app has enabled Vodafone Idea’s customer service and sales team to enhance their interactions with users. Vi customers can easily identify genuine calls from Vi by looking for certain trustworthy indicators provided by Truecaller, which include a green caller ID, a category tag, a tamper-proof brand name along with the logo, a verified business badge, and a call reason. As per the company, the solution enhances business calls by providing a brand identity and relevant context and that likely makes the customer communication more reliable. It helps in reducing call-related frauds and scams while also improving the efficiency and safety of business communications. Truecall has been taking measures to prevent fraud via calls for quite some time. In December 2023, the platform introduced an in-app digital government directory, enabling users to verify if a caller is a legitimate government representative or a potential fraudster. By accessing a digital list of verified government contacts, Truecaller users can easily check the information of the caller. The company emphasizes the significance of protecting users from scams, fraud, and spam as it plays a crucial role in establishing trust in their services among the public. Hence, the telecom company has partnered with Truecaller to help its users in identifying the spam calls. Additionally, Truecallers already offers Verified Business Solution which display brand identity and context about business calls to the users. Vi has announced its partnership with Truecaller to help users in identifying fraud calls and spam messages. With this collaboration,Truecaller's Verified Business Caller ID solution has been integrated with Vi's customer service and sales team to bring in a secure customer communication experience. This will also help users in identifying genuine calls from Vi customer service platform as they will carry a green caller ID, an unalterable brand name and logo, a verified business badge, a category tag, and the reason for the call. India is among one of the biggest markets for Truecaller. The company claims to have over 350 million active users. It has been downloaded more than a billion times since launch and has identified and blocked nearly 50 billion unwanted calls in 2021. Last month, the company reintroduced support for call recording on the app for smartphones. The feature was previously only available on Android smartphones. However, it was discontinued after Google cracked down on apps using an API designed for accessibility features to record calls. However, now the service has been rolled out on both an iPhone as well as an Android smartphone. Another good thing is that Vi customer calls will also show the reason for the call. Truecaller already offers AI-powered SMS fraud protection in India. This feature shows a Red coloured notification to warn users about a potential scam message. This notification will be visible on the screen until it is dismissed manually. Even if the user misses the notification, Truecaller automatically disables all the links present in the fraudulent message. These links are enabled only when the user manually marks the message as safe. Truecaller call recording on iPhone and Android also made a return last month. The company had to take down the functionality due to policy changes from Apple and Google.
