Reminiscing the milestones achieved by India in its 75-year post-independence journey, software giant Google has unveiled an online project, 'India ki Udaan'. The project extracted videos and images from India's rich archive and showcased artistic illustrations to narrate the story of India's glorious past. The project, carried out by Google Arts and Culture, is based on the theme "Unwavering and undying spirit of India over these past 75 years" and honours India's accomplishments. The app was formally unveiled on Friday, August 5, at an event held at the Sunder Nursery in Delhi under the auspices of "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav," in the presence of G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, as well as other top Ministry and Google officials. In order to support the government's year-long "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" programme, the two organisations will "reach informative online content that showcases the contributions of Indians and the evolution of India since 1947," Google said in a statement. The search giant has also introduced a number of novel initiatives across its products and services that will provide its Indian users with rich content and experiences throughout the anniversary year. Viewers can browse more than 120 illustrations and 21 stories written by ten accomplished authors in the project, which have been published in English and Hindi. Additionally, it will feature exhibits from a number of organisations, including the Dastkari Haat Samiti, the Museum of Art and Photography, the Indian Academy of Sciences, the Heritage Directorate of the Indian Railways, and the Ministry of Tourism, and the Indian Academy of Sciences. One such initiative announced is the popular Doodle4Google contest for 2022. The initiative is themed on 'In the next 25 years, my India will …', and is now open for entries to students of classes 1-10. According to a report by The Hindu, Google, in a statement, has said, “The winner of this year's Doodle4Google will see their artwork on the Google homepage in India on November 14 and win a ₹ 5 lakh college scholarship, a ₹ 2 lakh technology package for their school or non-profit organisation, a recognition of achievement, Google hardware and fun Google collectibles.
