The TATA IPL 2023 matches are being streamed on JioCinema for free, much like the FIFA World Cup that was streamed on the same platform last year. JioCinema broadcasted its first match yesterday which was played between the Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings. The statistics show that the watch was viewed by over six crore unique viewers, and over 1.6 crore viewers were watching the match live simultaneously. The total match views too reached a peak of over 50 crore viewers which is one of the highest for sporting events on a digital platform. In comparison, YouTube which is a popular streaming service secured monthly viewership of 51.4 crores. Thus the single-day viewership on JioCinema seems to be tailing the monthly viewership of YouTube. JioCinema had also been successful during the FIFA World Cup 2022. On the final day, JioCinema reportedly witnessed 32 million viewers watching the final match which was played between Argentina and France.
