Tech giant Apple is planning to unveil a slew of products, such as iOS 17, and a mixed-reality headset, at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will take place from June 5th to June 9th, 2023. However, a new Bloomberg report indicates that the upcoming event might also see the launch of a 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2-like chip. Developer logs show that Apple has started to test the new laptops with third-party apps from the App Store to make sure they work well together. With less than two months two go until WWDC, the rumors keep pouring in. After hearing about iOS 17 last week, we now have some details on the hardware Apple plans to bring to the big show, and the anticipated AR headset might have some supporting acts. According to Mark Gurman's latest Power On newsletter, Apple has several new MacBooks in the pipeline, "at least some" of which will be announced during the June 5 WWDC keynote. It has the same 8 gigabytes of memory as the current MacBook Air. The CPU still has four cores for high speed and four cores for low power use. According to reports, the upcoming headset will feature Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) capabilities, and users will be able to switch between modes using a digital crown-like control knob. It is expected to come equipped with an external battery pack that must be worn by the user on their waist. The laptop also packs 8GB of RAM under the hood. As per the logs, the 15-inch model has the identifier “Mac 15,3.” It is running macOS 14, which will be unveiled at WWDC 2023. In addition to the above details, the logs also revealed that the 15-inch variant has the same display resolution as the 14-inch MacBook Pro. Apple is also likely to offer only two USB Type-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The bigger Air is unlikely to get an SD card port or more than two USB Type-C Thunderbolt ports, which only the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models feature.
