Sony Corporation has announced that it has sold 40 million PlayStation 5 consoles globally since the launch. The company reported 10 million sales mark in July 2021, in 8 months of launch, making it the fastest selling PlayStation console ever, and hit 30 million mark in December 2022. As of early 2022, the company had shipped over 117 million PS4 units, and about 157 million PS2 as of 2013. It took 6 years for PS4 to reach 100 million. Since PS5 has reached almost half this feat in less than 3 years, it should take less time to reach this milestone. After a supply issue for a long time, Sony has confirmed that the PS5 supply is well-stocked, and the demand is finally being met. It is also running several offers to boost the sales.
