On the fateful day, he took his two dogs along for a hike and they unexpectedly encountered a coyote, causing them to panic and inadvertently knock Menand off the trail. This sudden fall activated the Apple Watch fall detection feature, which automatically called emergency services, as Menand was unable to reach his phone. However, his situation could have been much worse and he credits the Apple Watch fall detection with potentially saving his life. Fall detection on the Apple Watch is not a new feature it has been around for quite a while, and this is not the first rodeo in which it has saved lives.
