For those users who are getting the location tagging feature, the app shows nearby places to tag. Users can otherwise manually search for a location. The recent Engadget report stated, “When you give Threads access to your location, you’ll see a list of nearby places to tag, though you can also manually search for a place. It could further improve search functionality and make the app more useful for following events. The media report also revealed that Meta has hinted at future advertising plans for Threads. The location data may also be used for that in coming years. Previously, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed that the platform would be introducing in-app advertisements as the platform grows.
