Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of a new Redmi smartphone. The company is expected to expand its affordable C-series lineup with the launch of the Redmi 12C globally. The device is expected to launch on February 26 in various markets. The phone is tipped to launch in India as the Poco C55. Ahead of the official launch, the specifications of the global variant of the 12C have leaked online. A new leak has revealed the complete specs of the phone, right from its display size to its camera system. The summary image of the upcoming Redmi smartphone shared by tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, also revealed the colour options of the phone. This reveals the key specifications, complete design and much more. The phone shares a similar design as the POCO C55 except for some aesthetic differences like no leather back panel. Redmi 12C Design & Colours The Redmi 12C has a waterdrop notch on the front to house the selfie snapper and there is a sizeable chin below the screen. The volume rocker and power buttons are on the right edge, while the SIM card tray is on the left edge. Moving to the back, there is a square module to house dual camera sensors and an LED flash. There is also a fingerprint sensor placed inside the module. The phone has a textured back panel, which should offer a good grip on hands. The phone can be seen in Green, Pink, Black and Blue colours. Redmi 12C Specifications According to the summary image, the Redmi 12C will come with a 6.71-inch display, which probably could have an HD+ resolution. The bezels around the display, except for the chin, are fairly thin. The 12C is claimed to offer a slip-resistant and minimalist design. The Chinese variant’s display has a 20.6:9 aspect ratio and 500 nits of peak brightness. It comes with a standard 60Hz refresh rate screen. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC and will have a slip-resistant minimalist design. The phone will have a fairly big camera module design, which will not only house the dual-camera setup and an LED flash but also the rear fingerprint scanner. There is the Redmi branding next to the camera sensors. Moving to optics, the Redmi 12C will have a 50MP primary camera and a QVGA secondary sensor. There will be a 5MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The phone would ship with a 5000mAh battery, powerful loudspeakers, and RAM extension support. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. In addition to this, the phone will have support for a microSD card up to 512GB. There will be LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC 5.1 flash memory. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a single speaker at the bottom. There is a USB Type-C port with 10W charging support. The 12C weighs about 192 grams and measures 168.76 x 76.41 x 8.7mm. It is likely to boot Android 12 out of the box. The global variant will have a layer of MIUI 13 on top. Redmi 12C Price (Expected) Lastly, the Redmi 12C is tipped to launch with two storage options, the base variant will have 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. This model is tipped to carry a price tag of EUR 170 (around Rs 15,000). While the top-end 4GB and 128GB model is tipped to come at EUR 200 (around Rs 17,600).
