According to multiple media reports, the change will take effect starting September 25 and was announced in the latest Galaxy Store update (v6.6.13.10). While users will always have the option to get their apps and updates from the Google Play Store, several Samsung apps and features receive updates exclusively through the Galaxy Store. This means a Samsung account will eventually be necessary for Samsung users if they want to download or update the Galaxy Store-exclusive apps. Though the update is not showing up for all users yet, it signals Samsung’s ongoing push for Galaxy users to create and sign in with a Samsung account.
