Here’s a quick rundown of everything significant we know now from the teardown. iFixit Teardown Into the New Mac Mini Right off the start of the video, iFixit highlights how simple it is to disassemble the new Mac mini despite its reduced size. The bottom plate secured with clips can be removed without damage. Once open, the CMOS battery is immediately accessible, requiring just two screws to replace. With a few more screws removed, users can access the wireless module cables and remove an inner plate, exposing key components like the speaker and the large fan that occupies half of the Mac mini’s internal space. iFixit Shares M4 Mac Mini Teardown The new Mac mini’s cooling system has also been redesigned. The fan draws air in from the base, circulates it across internal components, and expels it, keeping things cool. Notably, the M4 Pro variant includes a larger copper heatsink compared to the base M4 model. One of the most interesting findings from the teardown is that the new Mac mini has a replaceable storage module. While upgrading isn’t simple due to the module’s proprietary design, iFixit confirmed that swapping modules between two Mac minis works. However, users should note that the M4 Pro and M4 base models have different module sizes, making them incompatible with each other.
