Earlier this year, the brand introduced the global version of the phone that had a slightly different design and specifications. The India version now comes with a big 6.67-inch HD+ display, Dimensity 6300 6nm processor, 108MP Clear Camera and up to 16 GB dynamic RAM. Tecno has done that with Pova 6 Neo. Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G has an attractive design. We had the Midnight Shadow variant for this review and it looks great. The phone has a boxy body with round corners. The edges are neither too sharp nor curved, which makes the phone easy to hold. It is also extremely lightweight and has a slim form. All things that eventually add to the comfort you would feel using the phone for long hours. The almost glittery matt finish of the plastic back panel is attractive. It doesn’t attract fingerprints, which is great. We used it the entire time without any back cover, and was as good as new. The camera module with a glass cover adds an interesting touch to the overall design. The 6.67-inch punch-hole screen feels large enough. While the resolution isn’t the sharpest around, it still delivers decent clarity, especially for everyday use. The high refresh rate is an advantage. It makes everything smooth – from casual browsing to intense gaming sessions. We responsiveness of the display is noticeable. While it comes with a decent screen-to-body ratio, we noticed that the bezels seem a lot wider than expected, especially at the bottom of the screen. Anyhow, the display is good for watching videos or casual streaming. As for brightness, the phone holds up well in almost every surrounding condition. Not under direct sunlight though, you can expect decent performance outdoors otherwise. Overall, it’s a pretty solid display for a phone in this price range. We didn’t experience any slowing down or lags in regular tasks. Even when multitasking between apps, it can handle the load well. However, you can’t expect too much heavy lifting from this phone. You can play games but do not expect a smooth experience in graphic-heavy games. It’s not a flagship chip, but the phone can handle casual gaming with ease and without stuttering too much. We tried playing BGMI and while it was smooth initially for a few minutes, the phone started heating up soon after. Frame drops were also noticeable too while the sharpness in visuals was missing. So, we suggest that you stick to casual gaming when it comes to this phone. We tested the phone on multiple benchmarks and it did perform decently well. The AnTuTu score of the phone came close to 463K and the rest of the benchmark results are below for your reference. The brand claims this is the first in its segment to offer 16GB of RAM (8GB + 8GB virtual), paired with 256GB of storage. The phone is truly more than enough for most people, whether you’re a casual gamer, a multitasker, or someone who likes to hoard photos and videos. We not saying this only for the hardware but also for the whole packing of the camera setup with a bunch of in-built AI tools. Tecno has tried to give users something interesting, but we’ll talk about the AI features in our next segment. Let’s focus on the camera. On the back, you’ve got a 108MP AI camera, which is pretty impressive for a phone in this segment. The 3X lossless in-sensor zoom lets you zoom in without losing much detail, and the Super Night mode does a decent job in low-light conditions. Whether you’re shooting portraits, vlogs, or time-lapse videos, the camera handles it all well. And it comes with a variety of shooting modes, like Pro, Panorama, and even AR Shot. Create unique avatars of your photo and find something unique to your liking Performance We tried creating portraits and while it is interesting to have, the results could have been better. The portraits hardly resemble the real person behind the lens, which defeats the purpose. It is fun to experiment with though. AIGC Portrait Example - AI Magic Eraser What Does It Do? Remove unwanted objects or people from your photos. Performance It is a useful feature. And it works on minor objects in a photo pretty well. However, you can’t expect smooth results when the object is a little big. Create clean cut-outs effortlessly Performance It does a decent job. Doesn’t cut the exact shape but still a useful feature to have. AI Wallpaper 2.0 What Does It Do? Generate wallpapers from text or images with multiple templates to choose from. Performance We tried multiple times both Text and Image-based AI wallpapers, and the results were disappointing. The main command was mostly missed. This was a thumbs-down. AI Artboard What Does It Do? Turn random strokes into detailed images, helpful for designers and professionals. Performance It is a decent tool. Detects and work on commands well. ASK AI What Does It Do? Text generator, text optimizer, grammar checker, and more. Performance Probably the most useful of all AI features. As we tested, it was close to accurate on most of the occasions. However, it can’t be relied on blindly. It comfortably gets you through a full day of normal use without needing a top-up. For lighter users, it can even stretch to a day and a half. Tecno claims around 387.5 hours of 5G standby time, and while you may not hit that exact figure, the battery holds up well. If you’re into binge-watching, you can get around 8.4 hours of continuous video playback, while music lovers can enjoy nearly 20 hours of tunes. The 18W fast charging isn’t the fastest around, but it’s decent enough to give you a quick boost when you need it. The battery performance on the Pova 6 Neo 5G is reliable and consistent.
