Now at the recent Alphabet Q3 2024 earnings call, CEO Sundar Pichai briefly shared some insights on both Project Astra and the Pixel 9. Pichai explained that Google is “building out experiences where AI can see and reason about the world around you.” He added, “We’re working to ship experiences like this as early as 2025.” It’s uncertain if Gemini Live’s camera mode might be delayed until 2025 or if a limited version will launch this year with a broader release next year. Pichai’s mention of “experiences” hints that Astra might apply to more than one product, especially since it was demonstrated on both a phone and glasses.
