Upcoming OPPO, Realme, OnePlus Flagship Smartphones to Feature Massive 6000mAh Batteries, Leak Suggests

According to the new leak coming from Weibo tipster “Smart Pikachu,” some major forthcoming flagship smartphones would have a huge 6000mAh battery capacity.

We’re expecting larger cells in the upcoming Oppo Find X8 series, the company’s future book-style foldable, the Realme GT6 Pro, and the OnePlus 13.

Performance Demands Forcing the Hand

The shift to 6000mAh batteries is probable because of the performance requirements of next-generation flagship chipsets that would power them. 

Earlier speculations suggested that some of these future phones would employ powerful new CPUs, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and MediaTek Dimensity 9400.

Increased performance usually means increased power consumption.

Thus, manufacturers may use much bigger battery capacities in order not only to make efficiency choices but maintain a decent battery life.

Increasing the battery capacity will increase the overall weight and bulk of the device.

By comparison, the Oppo Find X7 and Find X7 Ultra used 5000mAh batteries, while the Realme GT5 Pro and OnePlus 12 used slightly larger 5400mAh cells.

Despite their relatively high capacities already, those devices weighed between 202 and 224 grams.

Adding an extra 600mAh without utilizing lighter materials could push the weight up considerably on this new generation.

Find X8 Series To Be the First

The Oppo Find X8 series, for its part, is said to come earlier than usual—to be specific, this October.

That coincides with the public announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip from Qualcomm during its annual Snapdragon Summit, also to be held in October.

Oppo might have plans for the Find X8 series to debut shortly thereafter, perhaps taking advantage of the latest and greatest Snapdragon flagship silicon. 

Going by previous speculations, the demand might be for larger batteries because of the higher-clocked performance cores on the Gen 4 chip and the enhanced Adreno GPU.

Other models, like the Dimensity 9400 in some Find X8 models, are paired with high-end CPU cores like a Cortex-X5 Prime, three X4 Primes, and four A720 performance cores into a powerful yet potentially power-greedy device.
