Vivo X Fold2 foldable was launched in China over the weekend as a follow-up to the X Fold from last year. Just a day after the announcement, a teardown video of the phone surfaced online, showing the entire internal components of the device. Chinese blogger, WekiHome has shared the detailed disassembly video of the X Fold 2.
The video also includes camera samples and benchmark tests of the Vivo foldable. This showed that Snapdragon 8 Gen2 was able to handle its fort well under stress and the large copper alloy VC aids for better cooling.
Barely a day after the official unveiling of the Vivo X Fold2 in China, a teardown video of the smartphone has surfaced. The teardown video of the X Fold2 shows all the major components of the smartphone. The teardown video was shared by WekiHome and the video is quite detailed.
The vivo X Fold2 is yet to make its way to overseas markets but already a detailed video of its internals is now available. The X Fold2 disassembly video was about 12 minutes long and also included some benchmark tests for the device, as well as some camera samples.
The new smartphone’s hinge mechanism was displayed during the video. The X Fold2 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and it performed well during the performance test. Its large copper alloy VC sink was effective in optimal heat management.
The X Fold2 has an 8.03-inch E6 AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160 x 1916 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel delivers an aspect ratio of 4:3.55 and the new droplet-style hinge system is lighter and more durable than its predecessors – the X Fold and X Fold+.
It also has a 6.53-inch AMOLED cover screen with a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The smaller screen has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and both panels feature 16MP front-facing cameras. The vivo X Fold2 is 30g lighter and 1.5mm slimmer than its predecessor.
The Vivo X Fold2 supported up to 108W fast charging and it took just 27 minutes to fully charge the phone. The nominal wired charging capacity of the model is 120W and its reworked hinge mechanism is a major improvement. The video is originally in Chinese but other users can enable closed captions and auto-translate to get the details of the content. The vivo X Fold2 and X Flip were unveiled with the Snapdragon 8 series chipsets and Zeiss cameras.
Vivo X Fold 2 Teardown
The Vivo X Fold 2 teardown starts by opening the leather back cover of the phone, which has cutouts for triple camera sensors in a circular module and an LED flash. Moving along, next, we see the blogger opening the front screen of the foldable and this has a centre-positioned cutout for the selfie shooter. The cover screen was able to achieve a maximum brightness of up to 1100+ nits. The main screen was able to touch 1300nits peak brightness.
The teardown then proceeds to strip opening the complete internals of the phone, including the camera cutouts. We also see the wireless charging coil as well. The teardown shows the hinge and how strong it is.
The video compares the hinge weight of the Vivo X Fold and X Fold 2. While the processor weighed in at 4.12 grams, the successor is lighter at 3.03 grams. We see the presence of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage components, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC and a V2 chipset. Overall, the Vivo X Fold2 packs in quite a lot to take on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.
