Vivo is stepping up its smartphone photography game with a big reveal for its upcoming X200 Ultra, a detachable 200MP super telephoto lens. Teased earlier this week by Vivo’s Product VP Huang Tao, the lens was confirmed by Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao, putting an end to speculation around the mysterious fourth camera on the phone.

The X200 Ultra already has a strong triple-camera setup, but now Vivo is adding a detachable super telephoto lens co-developed with ZEISS. It carries the ZEISS Blue Label and comes with a 200-megapixel sensor, 200mm focal length and f/2.3 aperture.

This means the lens offers a massive 8.7x optical zoom, pushing the boundaries of what a smartphone can do in mobile photography.

The lens uses a 3-group, 13-element Kepler-style design with high-transmittance glass for better clarity. It also features RMSC tech, which enables a second zoom stage, offering 800mm equivalent (35x) zoom and up to 1600mm (70x) digital zoom, while still maintaining image quality comparable to traditional 30x systems.

Vivo X200 Ultra – Camera Specs (Rumoured)

Besides the external lens, the internal camera setup of the X200 Ultra is just as exciting:

  • 50MP Sony LYT-818 main sensor (35mm)
  • 50MP LYT-818 ultra-wide (14mm)
  • 200MP Samsung HP9 periscope telephoto (85mm)

The phone is expected to support 4K 60fps 10-bit Log and cinematic 4K 120fps video recording. It will be powered by Vivo’s custom VS1 and V3+ imaging chips, enhancing both pre- and post-processing for DSLR-like output.

There’s also a dedicated Action Button for camera control and a customisable zoom flash system for better portrait shots.

The X200s will be powered by the Dimensity 9400+ and for the first time features a massive 6,200mAh battery, up from 5,700mAh on the X200. Thanks to third-generation silicon-carbon negative electrode tech, it stays slim at just 7.99mm.

Charging also sees a boost with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging, the latter being rare in flat-screen flagships. The phone features a 6.67-inch BOE Q10 flat panel with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 2,160Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort.

Other highlights include a new single-point ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that works with wet fingers, now repositioned for better access.
